i think user's have become to sensitive. this holiday season went off without any real problems from what i've seen. the only trolling i see is of the Vita, and that's in small volumes.

See, this is a pretty silly thing to say. How could you presume that there is only trolling of vita? How??

It's a video game forum and you assume and think the vita is the only console trolled, in the midst of a U launch, while Nintendo stocks are at a year low, when the PS3 beat the 360 in sales, when Halo itself outsold the PS3 games released this year (as an example), you consider the Vita the only console trolled?

How is that logical.

maybe cause i don't post in ever forum on the site. i can only speak for the threads i've been in. i've been in most all Wiiu, 3DS, Vita, and PS3 threads. i think you're taking strong opinion as trolling.

What makes you think that?

I don't either post on every forum of the site, but it's a very silly thought to say only the vita gets trolled here, I'm terribly sorry. No matter how you slice it that is a very silly idea you had.

Like I said, it's a video game forum. The U JUST launched, and I mentioned a slew of other things you didn't respond to. Take the time, think for a second, and try to address the points I brought up. Here, I'll underline them for you.

ok yea i saw that(the underlined), but i see it this way. if it's fact then that's all thier is to it. is it true? now ask yourself that question, and if so,whats the harm in pointing it out? not everything is trolling.

you'd think because i'm a Sony fan, i'd be one of the first to say it's trolling. but if it's true, then it's not. you can't determine intent.

i haven't had time to answer anything else you've said because my focus is on your insult to Ryan. the rest isn't part of the argument until that is resolved.

i gusse i've just started to over look things, and if there is any trolling, then reported. and if that doesn't work, message ioi, or tor.

Around the Network

maybe i should become a mod. the only problem with that is that most of my banns would actualy get overturned for the simple reason, i would read every post in the most active thread with the most controversial topic's with a fine tooth comb, and you'll so find your self not being able to post do to being bannd.

i wouldn't care about intent, joke threads or anything like that. locked, warned, then bannd.

the trollwhisperer you used to keep them in check, but he doesn't do it anymore since he got fired by ioi

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I know ive brought this up on various occasions but it bears repeating; if you think this place is bad, try GamePro.com. well  actually you can't now since its shut down, which is for the best. That place was a sesspool of fanboys, trolls, morons, and all around hateful people. Makes this place look like heaven.

Yea there's a lot, but there always has been and always will be.

I find the forums more enjoyable these days, because it's not just the same 4 users posting, creating massive quote trees and going way off topic. Every once in a while a group like this forms and takes over the forums, I hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon.

I dont know, I think the site is moderated pretty well. Only problem I see is every now and then the mods commenting in a thread might ignore a troll as long as people arent reporting him. I normally dont like reporting people, but there was a thread a couple days ago that was completely derailed by a troll but there were a few mods that were commenting in the thread who were completely fine with ignoring the obvious troll.

Don't confuse trolling and fanboyism. They look similar on the surface, but they're very different.

How to handle a fanboy: Challenge them with facts, keep beating them over the head with the facts until they consider an alternative to their viewpoint.

How to handle a troll: Turn the trolling attempt against them. Their aim is to elicit an emotional response from the target, so choose your words to get an emotional response from them, instead. Never, ever, try to argue in the regular method with a troll.

How to handle a fanboy: Ignore them

How to handle a troll: Ignore them

But I agree with you, the fanboyism on this site by certain users (who are also the most active users unfortunately) is extremely obvious. I've been a member for over 2 years but I rarely post here because of those users and the blantant fanboyism they convey. Since they're the most active users, I get a sour taste everytime I read the forums and just choose to ignore this community and only visit for sales numbers. It's a shame really, because 2 years ago it wasn't this bad, and that was back when I was (fairly) active in my posting because the community was much better. I can easily list down the Sony, MS and Nintendo fanboys on here, but I think most people already know who they are.

We all need to band together and buy the Troll Whisperer a new laptop! Or else we will have no hope:(

This solution only works if everyone ignores them. My solution works to discourage trolling and dampen fanboyism directly.

Your solution also works only if everyone does it. Trolls simply need one person to elicit a response to continue to do it. Regardless, I don't think trolling is as big of a problem here compared to blatant fanboyism (which can lead to trolling, I understand).
