Going well so far. Those 66 signatures will make Rockstar notice the WiiU, for sure.

almost 100 now!

..although about 250 have voted for the threads poll and the thread has been view over 2000 times.  guess wiiU owners really don't want GTAV.

yes because we all know 2000 views equates to 2000 unique wii u owners

we also know that internet petitions word took hence why everyone is so eager to sign them.

meh. gta 4 was overrated. 5 gonna be the same.

You're not serious, right?

They are. In terms of gameplay you've been playing the same game since GTA3. Storytelling, cinematics and graphics were the only things that improved.

Sleeping Dogs is more innovative than GTA5 will ever be just for the melee combat and envyronmental takedowns. I doubt GTA5 will have that, but i hope it does, cause its the only way i will buy it.

The melee combat is not innovative at all. Sleeping Dogs was planned as a True Crime sequel and extensive melee combat has always been the main focus of that series (besides driving cars). GTA is more about guns, TC about martial arts.

Environmental takedowns are not new to gaming either, but at least they don't fall into the generic gameplay category just yet. Though I'd still say that this feature is not fully developed.

Maybe not, but they are both innovations for the genre. To have all those GTA functionalities (sandbox, structure) and on top of that a good melee combat (and a better shooting controls aswell). Also i can one-up that with a car attack button (ramming), the ability to jump to other cars while in another car and obviously the envyronmental takedowns themselves. I think its obvious that sleeping dogs is better than GTA in every way except graphics and possibly story, given the one on sleeping dogs was promising but didnt completely realise the potencial (maybe cause development got interrupted at some point and they just wrapped it up once they got the deal with square).

The only reason GTA sells more and gets better reviews is because of what it did with GTA3. Its been an industry darling ever since.

Personally i got tired of the gameplay mechanics while playing GTA3 when i was getting to the end. I finished it and i havent bought another GTA game since. I did play bits and bobs at a friends just to know its not changed at all. Its a boring game all around. You have the most fun in it commiting a crime and trying to escape the police. And that isnt even part of the main game.

I cannot agree with that at all. GTA IV is a far superior game. Furthermore Saints Row might also have a word with you and I also throw in Just Cause 2.
Sleeping Dogs is hardly the top of the genre.

- Proper melee combat (Batman Arkham City and lots of other games)
- Car ramming (even though I think it totally breaks the immersion since Sleeping Dogs is supposed to be somewhat realistic) was already in Driver San Francisco (and probably other games before).
- Jumping to other cars was already present in the Just Cause series.
- Use of the environment to take out your enemies (many other games), though that is the only feature that is somewhat advanced compared to the rest
How could you call that innovation when other games already had them before Sleeping Dogs ?

And all of my examples are from sandbox games.

Ok, once again. There was no game with the same framwork (by that i mean a modern city sandbox) as GTA that had them all.

You may say game A had one and game B had another, but this one had them all in one place on one pretty complete package of enjoyment. I dont know how you can say GTA is better since it doesnt have all those features. It only has graphics.

Then maybe what I've said doesn't apply to you, since you are not part of the market for this game. My stance can be summed up as "if you are interested in this game and have the money for it, I suggest taking any action you can to make it happen". If you want to sign a petiton regardless of your level of interest or intent to purchase the game, go right ahead. It wouldn't hurt the cause. However, I'm here to point out that for Wii U owners who are in this market (no matter the current size), signing a petition is probably the least they can do to contribute.

Thankfully, Rockstar is apparently considering a Wii U version of GTAV. So I'm going to go out on a limb and say that if Rockstar doesn't release GTAV on Wii U, it isn't because of bias (not assuming you would think that, but someone will).

@bold. I agree.

...and ultimately, I just hope those people would not treat petitions as the be-all, end-all solution. Because if GTAV doesn't appear on Wii U, I will (as always) blame everyone and everything involved. There are no sacred cows when I point my fingers.

You should play mafia.

I probably will, but I have a feeling that I should start lurking around that thread for a while first. Last time I checked (like, months ago?), it seemed pretty complicated at the time.

I agree. The porting process isn't as simple as some people here would like to believe, so making a decent Wii U version of GTAV may not be worth the trouble given how much effort must be put into rewriting the code. I doubt it would make much use of the Wii U's different capabilities and architecture, unless Rockstar determines that the Wii U version is worth putting so much time and resources into (it's probably not). However, I think a portion the people who want GTAV on Wii U might not be so concerned with port quality, and are more interested in its symbolic presence on a Nintendo home console.

GTA IV was probably never designed to be released on the PC whereas Assassins Creed was. I guess the same applies to many of the big Japanese games so perhaps that is the major factor as to whether the Wii U CPU is considered slow or adequate. In a console focused design a game will likely make extensive use of vector code whenever possible whereas the Wii U CPU likely doesn't have strong vector units. GTA IV runs like complete arse on a PC as testament to this fact.

What troubles me is that Rockstar has not even announced a PC version. I don't understand why not, since it would likely sell very well. And given how far ahead PCs are compared to consoles these days, I don't see why Rockstar can't make a good PC version  of GTAV (compared to GTAIV's PC version). No wonder PC gamers complain about consoles holding them back...

You don't need to be concerned at all. That's how Rockstar does it everytime with GTA.
Though selling well would be relative. At least nowhere near the console versions.

Also Rockstar is known to make below average PC ports most of the time. GTA III had huge performance issues, GTA IV still has after several patches and the same is likely to happen with GTA V, unless they would give it more time than only ~6 months.

Also the "And given how far ahead PCs are compared to consoles these days" part is irrelevant. If a decent PC can't properly run GTA IV now it won't be able to properly run GTA V either (assuming the port quality is equal).

It concerns me in the sense that I think there's little chance of GTAV coming to Wii U if Rockstar can't even make a decent PC version.

I'll try to remember to poke you when the next game starts.
