I'd be amused too, but the truth is that the above falls pretty much in line with the mindsets of (almost) all third parties. Remember the Wii, a console that held a higher than 66% market share in Japan (among seventh generation home consoles)? Yet Japanese third party support was even worse than the West's whose support was awful.

And the 3DS, the successor to the DS, a system that sold 33m units in Japan? It's now almost two years old, yet third party support has been coming very slowly, because third parties would have liked the PSV to take over from the fading PSP.

Do you think Nintendo is being purposely blacklisted?  Maybe not so much in Japan, but certainly in the West perhaps?

So, it's all just a conspiracy?

I mean, it's at least something that might be worth considering.  Not a conspiracy, but based on how some 3rd parties have acted in the past (particularly the Wii days) and what some have said, it's almost clear that quite a bit of them wouldn't mind an industry without Nintendo in it.  This might explain the doom articles we get from the establishment press even when Nintendo was hitting record numbers in sales and posting record profits.

I can see that a bit, but there's a lot that Nintendo could have done to make transitions easier for third parties and they could have done a whole lot more to get people on board. When they finally made those attempts, it was either too little, too late or the product was poor (The Conduit comes to mind).

Kind of sad seeing low numbers to some Wii U games like Zombie U, but then I remembered that this is a brand new console and thus people have to buy a $300+ console and thus only can get 1-2 games or so extra. (what is cost in Japan?)

That's the risk of being launch title, if a few games are more sought out than yours, you get overlooked.

Developers always say they can't compete with Nintendo's first party games, thus why they don't release games on that system.  Yet they want Nintendo to become 3rd party.  Wouldn't that mean they would be competing against Nintendo now on ALL systems?

Amazon has no stock available unless you count third parties selling the systems for 4,500 yen to 6,000 yen above retail price.

I just checked yodobashi's online store and they are sold out of both models. Bic camera's site doesn't show either model which likely means they have no stock. Yamada Denki's website also is sold out of both models. 

I wonder why there are so many available in your area. Somebody on gaf said that some places told him more stock would come on the 15th. I'll check again later, but I'm still expecting no stock when I check.

I think is pretty amusing that It didn't drop... without any release or good offer like on western markets.. doing over 10k two weeks a row for Vita in Japan for me is unbelievable...

I think the point he's trying to make is, if you took that graph last week, or next week, or almost any other week, the PS3 would have a far lower marketshare. 

But I see your point. Fact is, games release and big ones will skew the figures. I do think you're cherry-picking slightly to dethrone the WiiU's launch as it were, but there you go. If it can stay above 25% next week then all power to it.

Then again people are saying "complete NIntendo domination" in here when the Wii U launch certainly played a big part...lol

Nintendo always dominates - it's just by how much that we get to discuss. :D

Nintendo is the TRUE winner of the consoles (Wii), the handhelds (3DS), and the next consoles (Wii U).


The graphics is comparing SOFTWARE sales. not Hardware.. please kids.. go back to school..

Amazon has never had stock of the Wii U.  Has something to do with a dispute between Amazon and Nintendo.  At least that's what I've heard the reason is.

Pretty good launch numbers for the Wii U.  Now, we just have to wait and and see if they will hold.  Also, seems kinda strange that the 360 isn't getting any boost at all from the holidays.  Last year, the 360 was at ~3K for the corresponding week, which was up ~1.4K from the previous week.  This year it's actually down by 100 units from last week.  The 360 was always a niche product in Japan, but it seems like even the samll support it got is dying away.
