i believe it's undertracked, much like the ps3 and vita and ps software for the past two weeks :D

But we know from the NPD it sold less then 88K (between the two) in America in Novemember which we have 106K so we have been overtracking it already...

Former something....

Didn't you mean it the other way around? It is a good party game (it's easier to pick up than  Smash) but the current balance makes it less fitted to the competitive fighting scene.

It looks a lot harder than Smash to be good - so many moves, the button combinations are more complex, and the strategy is deeper. With Smash any button you press will give a good result. Brawl was developed with no regard for competition but PSASBR was made with it in mind.

That's what I thought at first but after playing the game I changed my mind.

The move count is about the same for both games, Smash has Tilts, Smashes, Specials and Air moves. All-Stars has Square, Triangle, Circle and Air moves. Teaching a noob how to fight in both game is very simple but All-Stars doesn't have ring outs and thus no recovery.

I've played Brawl with guys at my office and while it was easy enough to teach them how to fight, teaching them how to recover properly was much harder. All-Stars is simpler in that way, learning to get out of the way of someone using a Super comes more naturally than learning how to get back to the stage when you're thrown far away.

Signature goes here!

Playstation All Star: Versus (Marvel vs Capcom type game)
Playstation All Star: Karting
Playstation All Star: RPG

We have a winner...

Dear god, this again? First off, what people were predicting on random internet forums does not matter. Like, at all. The people at WWS weren't sitting around going, "but they said it would do 3M by the end of the year on gamrConnect ... ." Second, anyone saying this was supposed to be a "big holiday title" are either fooling themselves or they're inflating expectations so they claim those lofty expectations weren't met. No one at WWS thought this was going to be the next Uncharted.

Before it even launched, I said that the purpose of this game was to build brand recognition for the series and to eventually be a base game for PS+. Not to be a huge individual sales machine. It's there to fill a need, to be Sony's party-type game. Not every investment should be judged solely on its own numbers. In business, sometimes you spend money on things to improve the whole of your production, not just to register an immediate return.

Sony is probably going to try to get this game into people's hands any way they can. PS+, giving it away with bundles, anything that will grow the player base, which will grow the franchise with regards to future installments.

I know there are some sad human beings out there who desperately want this series to die but, unfortunately for them, it's probably here to stay.

I like you.  You understand how to display logic and rationale.  have my babies?

You'll have to woo me a little, maybe bring me take-out from McDonalds, but I'm down after that.  I also like to be cuddled.

On topic, I know a few people have said they should have waited and released with the PS4 but I disagree.  Launching the series now will let them make the PS4 version bigger and better and with improved brand recognition.  They put this version out now with the idea of distributing it as much as possible via discounts, bundles, and PS+, which will serve to establish a player base.  From what I've seen, that's part of their marketing strategy.

Would they have loved to have sold 500k the first week?  Of course, but I'm pretty sure from the start that they knew that wasn't going to happen.  Their intention, from my perspective, appears to be to use this initial game to build up for the future of the franchise and to give the Playstation brand another tool in their kit when it comes to selling the product as a whole.

A good competitive fighting game, not a good party game.

MAJOR flops are relative to expectations. $300k * optimistically $30 to the dev (minus marketing, retail, distribution) = 90 dev-years ($100k per employee including insurance, tax, premises, equipment). Studio formed in 2009 so let's say 3 years of development. Was the staff really under 30 people? I can't find the credits list.

Play Smash Bros with me or any of my siblings and see how good a result you get by just pressing any button.

or one of these levels of players http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iX0utHVPghc :D

To say that smash brothers is a game you can button mash in and win is worse than saying the same thing about street fighter/tekken/MK because in those games you can't button mash your way off the stage and die on your own.

Also regarding PS all stars, I wonder seeing the sales of the first game being rather poor so far would that damage any chances of seeing 3rd party characters rolling into the game for a sequel? I mean Smash bros didn't get Sonic or Snake until the 3rd game after it had made over 10million in sales.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Lol weren't people saying how All-Stars is easy because you can only get kills with supers? This game takes time to master.

Brawlers are known to perform much worse in Europe and Others:
http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=smash+brothers

Also we know that it bombed in the UK as well, so there is not much left where it could've sold a decent amount.

uk is 360 country.
cant really extrapolate europe from uk..like, at all
