When will PS3 overtake 360 in total sales?

But if you are talking about total numbers. The 2 million lead 360 has is fading away. Rather than going past 360. Their target is probably 120 million. I see PS3 selling good for next 5yrs TBH. I can see another slim version in 2 yrs with 1 TB. PS3 has lots of potential and great catalog of games in every genre.

I do, I'm on my 4th 360, all replaced under warrenty, but my PS3 did this thing called YLOD, and well Sony didn't fix it so I no longer have a PS3.

To my knowledge, MS would register me with 1 sold 360, but if I were to replace my PS3, that would be 2 PS3's.

Their target is 120million? You realize PS3 sales are dropping, and the next gen is comming. I really doubt PS3 will ever pass Wii or PS1.

Hence why I said "if," and that's a huge "if" right there. And yes, the day Versus XIII comes out is the day that my RPG hunger will be finally satisfied.

Theres a rumour that FF Versus XIII will be revealed as FFXV and be released on both the PS3 and WiiU. If so, that pushes me to get a WiiU/BC PS4 (BC is rumored to cost an extra $100 for a separate drive).

Well the problem is the 360 doesn't tend to sell that well in general during the year, so if it's not getting a big enough bump during the Holidays ie. much more than 20,000 more than the PS3 to even things up, then it's not going to do much in stopping PS3's momentum during the year.

True, but 2015 still looks like a reasonable time. In the last 2 years PS3 has only outsold the 360 by less then 1 million combined (0.65 and 0.3 million i believe). With annual sales dropping (likely to be below 10 million each for 2013, maybe 5-8 the year following), I can't see PS3 gaining more then 1 million per year.

Still 2014 is possible, the gap is only 2 million, but 2013....not a chance.

Also while last week was a flop, 360 still did gain 250k over PS3 on BF, and could gain better numbers in the 3 comming weeks. The last week before christmas tends to help 360 just as much as BF.

 

Also, last comment, people keep saying a PS3 price cut to $199 will suddenly boost PS3 sales like mad.....The last price cut did almost nothing, and now PS3 is being replaced, it doesn't matter how cheap it goes, no price cut will help PS3 as much as the PS3 slim did in 2009. Also 360 is more overdue for a price cut then the PS3. Normally 360's still sell for $299, and the Arcade is still $199. Bring that Arcade down to $130 like they did on BF in the past, and number will fly.

ok I'm a big time Sony fan and think PS3 could end up winning this gen eventually, but that predicition is absolutely ridiculous.  They could reach 105 million (what I think) and barely edge out Wii, but 120 million?  Absolutly not going to happen.  Another redesign won't do much in 2 years with other consoles out.  They will reach 100 million through the magical $199 price and a bevy of exclusives early next year, plus probably 2 big ones after PS4 releases this fall, and finally the $150 price, but they would have to almost sell at the same pace as their first 6 years in the next 6 years to reach that number which just isn't feasible.  Even PS2 only sold about %50 of its total (104 million) after the next gen started so I see PS3 doing about those same numbers.  If it's at 75 million when PS4 launches that means about 37.5 million throughout the years (optimistically considering PS2 didn't really have competitors left) so 112.5 million even if it sells like PS2 did after next gen.  The only way it could sell what you say is if 360 and Wii were discontinued and they got it down to $99 in a couple years and even then it might be too irrelevant to get the games PS2 did after the next gen was out.

 

PS3 has much longer lifespan than PS2. There are still million in Japan who have not bought PS3 and million more in other regions.

PS2 din't even have online. It used DVD. PS3 has free online, Blu-ray  and next version might come with a 1 TB. - It has everything going for it.

It will be more affordable and must in every household. WIth collection selling at great price.

I cannot see anyone with Iota of brain not getting PS3 then and going for Wii, 360 which are dead, dying respectively.

We have to wait and see but I see what PS3 has to offer and no reason for it not to sell for another 5-6yrs TBH.

There also might be a new GT game as install base is so much for PS3. Sony might also support PS3 to make 120million or whatever their target is.
