Forums - Nintendo - Hip Hop Gamer says Nintendo is in a position to acquire SEGA

I'd say Nintendo should NOT buy Sega, but if Sammy plans to dissolve Sega, Nintendo should put a bid in for IP rights, and claims to ownership of all previous titles. Those are the only two assets that Nintendo could make use of.

On another note, a purchase of Konami or Square-Enix would be seen as a lot more strategically viable option. I doubt Konami is in a position to be bought out, since their gambling machines provide a solid enough base for revenue, but if Square finds itself sliding any further down, Nintendo would be the most likely of the 3 to have enough funds for an outright takeover (I base this on Sony having junk status credit rating and Microsoft heading into uncertain waters with Windows 8 and the Surface).

Has Hip Hop Gamer ever been right? About anything?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

If Nintendo does buy Sega, i wonder how many people would be pissed off at Nintendo....Nintendo needs some more big Studio's anyway, all they have is Retro Studio's and a growing company Monolith Soft.. but the outrage will be funny as. lol

I think Nintendo are in a better position to buy Platinum Games.

if Nintendo bought any company there would be masive meltdowns.  They got B2 as an exclusive and the internet went crazy, imagine Nintendo owning all of a companies ip's; your bound to get a bunch of people withing their respective cult following to go nuts over it.

Sega would be a good buy only if it's cheap. Nintendo has enough cash to buy any software maker and picking up one might be a good idea. But Sega isn't a particularily great fit because its games overlap with Nintendo's. Do people really want a Mario, a Donkey Kong Country and a Sonic year after year? I think if they were to buy someone, it should be either for more production capacity and talent - like Platinum Games - or for complimentry IPs, like Square-Enix or Activision. Square could probably benifit from Nintendo's ownership and streamline their production and focus a little more on fun games and not (quite so much) dramatic visuals. Activision would give Nintendo a powerful western presence. Sega...it really doesn't ad more to Nintendo than what they already have.

I'd love to see SEGA under Nintendo, but don't think that'll happen. There's a much bigger chance of Nintendo buying a SEGA IP. Remember that we heard a rumor that Nintendo would reveal some kind of partnership or game that would send even bigger shock/rage waves through the business than Bayo2? http://dualpixels.com/2012/11/29/rumor-behind-the-scenes-with-first-party-hardware-and-third-party-softwear-next-gen/

Could it be that Nintendo has worked out some kind of deal with SEGA??

And I don't really understand why everyone here thinks it's better for Nintendo to acquire Platinum Games. Why??

And like S.Peelman said in the post above; I'd also love to see Total War on Wii U :D

this is an interesting point, i wonder if the SEGA rumor is being fueled by this rumor

Have Nintendo buy SEGA and then have one of Ninty's in-house studios make New Sonic The Hedgehog.

Oh, and have Amusement Vision develop the next F-Zero.

Amusement Vision no longer exists, unfortunately.

Really, there's not much left of Sega worth taking, outside of the Yakuza team and Sonic Team.

No wonder SEGA went down the crapper ever since the start of this gen.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Nintendo does have more franchises than they can handle and Platinum Games does have talented people that could make new games for those franchises.

I get that Nintendo has more IP's than they can handle, but why do everyone think that Platinum is so great?! They've done, what, bayonetta? What else?

They used to be Clover Studios.

So Okami a Zelda like gae that when it came out some people thought it was the best zelda like game released in a long time.  (Including zelda games) and Viewtiful Joe, another critically aclaimed gameplay franchise.

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
