I think you might be confusing networking with privilege? And some people are just more privileged than others. Even in something that seems unlikely as Hollywood movie stars – more than half of all of them have a family member in the business that helped them out. It often helps who you know, and who knows what you can do.

Personally I would rather hire someone I know and trust. It still might not work out, but I think I have slightly better odds. Some people have really strange issues and melt downs - and the unknown can be worse than the known.

PS Good luck finding a job. If you get on through here or connections - would you then refuse it because of your networking privilege?

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

the worlds not fair. It won't ever be fair.

The End

I mean, if your really having trouble, get another degree. I've known people that screwed up and picked a screwy degree. Worked 40 hours or two jobs while getting a 2nd more useful one.

I've never had the opportunity to do so. But if i were, i would kill myself from overwork rather than undertake the exploitative hiring practices currently in place.

Last time I hired someone, I had to go through some 50 or more applications. Many of which were incomplete or so poorly written that I would be putting more effort into responding to them than they put into applying for the job. Why on Earth should I have to waste time telling the 49 other people that we found someone with more experience and/or who seemed like a better personality type for the job when it should be patently obvious that that was the case when they didn't hear back?

Typical socialist mind. It's never my fault, as I can't get what I deserve, the government has to do something... Grow a pair of balls, no one owes you nothing, you have to fight for it.

PS: Maybe if you didn't lose so much time in forums like this, and prepared yourself better, then you would have the job you think you deserve.

Because it creates an atmosphere of transparency, and allows people to improve themselves

I for one have no damn clue why i'm being passed over for all kinds of work, from 30K+ a year jobs to minimum-wage grunt work. Especially given how well-liked i've been at jobs i've actually had. Which of course feeds a sense of paranoia and a desire to scapegoat anyone.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

One other thing i read online all the time that drives me fricking insane is so-called "advice" from hiring professionals. "Don't be late. Dress professional, have concise, professional answers to questions." No fucking shit. I do all that, and still get squat.
