Personally I would rather hire someone I know and trust. It still might not work out, but I think I have slightly better odds. Some people have really strange issues and melt downs - and the unknown can be worse than the known.

PS Good luck finding a job. If you get on through here or connections - would you then refuse it because of your networking privilege?
