Last time I hired someone, I had to go through some 50 or more applications. Many of which were incomplete or so poorly written that I would be putting more effort into responding to them than they put into applying for the job. Why on Earth should I have to waste time telling the 49 other people that we found someone with more experience and/or who seemed like a better personality type for the job when it should be patently obvious that that was the case when they didn't hear back?
