Of course xbox, it had many awesome games while n64 did not have anything that would interest me.

Xbox is the only answer for a TRUE gamer.

Confirmed:  True gaming didn't start until 2001.

OMG, I've been false gaming since 1985!

OMG me too!  What a bunch of posers we are!

This goes thrice for me! My true gaming console broke!

The only thing better than n64 since was ps2 and the 360. Nintendo definitely has not topped what they did quality wise for their first party games since, and it's not even close.

Xbox 1 had halo riddick star wars fable gta collections ninja gaiden fight night and doom 3 My n64 list can trump that with ocarina of time goldeneye and WWF no mercy alone.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Xbox for me, but that's only because my access to games were limited in my childhood. The xbox came around the time of the 7th or 8th grade for me. My family had a more middle class lifestyle and I had developed an ability to do more chores and save my money during the original xbox generation. Halo was obviously a big deal, but I really loved playing games like Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath, Knights of the Old Republic, Dead or Alive 3, Psychonauts, Voodoo Vince, Wreckless, Conker Live and Reloaded, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, Phantom Dust, The Suffering, Fuzion Frenzy, Raze's Hell, Advent Rising, Bloodrayne, State of Emergency, GTA: Vice City, Indigo Prophecy, SoulCaliber 2 etc. That's not including games I'd play on my 360 thanks to partial backwards compatibility. Stubbs the Zombie, Jade Empire, Call of Cthulu, Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge, The Punisher, Crimson Skies, and Jedi Outcast all come to mind. Not to say I didn't have favorites on the N64, Paper Mario, Jet Force Gemini, and Body Harvest are amongst my all time favorites.

for those talking about Halo, you can thank Goldeneye for paving the way for it.

Exactly.  Halo is Goldeneye with regenerating health and vehicles.

Wow.

Anyways Xbox for me, wider variety of games and more good ones. If you're someone like me who never got into the 3D era of Nintendo's franchises, there was not much to enjoy on the N64.

Xbox meanwhile had Rallisport Challenge 2, Links, and Crimson Skies. Xbox wins.

What wider variety of games? Compared to the N64?

The ones on Xbox and yes compared to the N64.

If you don't care for Nintendo titles then the N64 lineup was pretty "pitiful".

I don't mean to be annoying, but here goes:

[long list of first, second, and third party titles]

There are more, but I only listed games I've played.

That's not a pitiful line-up.

Maybe you missed the part where I said if you don't enjoy Nintendo franchises?

Rareware was more than enough for me to love my N64 but the 3rd party lineup on the console was pretty terrible.

I suppose we are at an impasse, since you do not recognize any of the third party gems I listed as good games.

I will say this: the N64 library would be lackluster indeed if the contributions from Nintendo and Rare did not exist. But they DO exist, and it is they that push N64 over the top. If someone doesn't enjoy Nintendo franchises, then maybe video games aren't the right medium for that person.

Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda are two of the founding fathers of modern video gaming; almost all modern games owe something to them. Games like Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Super Mario 64, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time are consistently named to top 10 lists, by fans and by critics. If you do not care for platform and action-adventure games (which includes Kirby, Yoshi, and Donkey Kong), you have RPGs (Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, Pokemon), sports (Wii Sports, Punch-Out!!), life simulation (Animal Crossing), real-time strategy (Pikmin), racing (Mario Kart), fighting (Super Smash Bros.), shooter (Star Fox, Kid Icarus), puzzle (Brain Age, Dr. Mario), party game (Mario Party, Nintendo Land, WarioWare).

I'm sorry...

Super Mario 64

Donkey Kong 64

Super Smash Bros.

Ocarina of time

Mario Kart

Mario Party

Majoras mask

Pokemon Stadium

Banjo Kazooie

N64 by a mile

The N64 destroys the Xbox in terms of awesome games. I'm not even going to bother listing them all. I'm sure people in here have done so already considering the thread is on its 12th page now.

Never said none of those 3rd party games are good. Just seems weird to quote a post where I say someone who isn't a fan of Nintendo franchises might not have liked the N64... with a long list of games that include tons of Nintendo franchises.

LOL @ the idea that someone needs to stop playing games if they don't enjoy Nintendo franchises. Nintendo lost me at the transition to 3D. Doesn't make me any less of a gamer. And now it's been almost 2 decades since and they're yet to bring me back. The closest has been NSMB, which is basically old school Mario goodness in multiplayer form.  Don't care for most of those franchises you listed either.

Question was which one of these consoles you enjoyed more, in case you missed it. Which should be obvious, since you make so ridiculous conclusions. Just out of curiosity, why you did not make such a superfunny comment on the nintendo fan posting his "TRUE GAMER" stuff? :)
