Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Black Friday sales break 685,000

Its hard to believe the PS3 did that good. Why did they wait so long to report this good news?

I guess they wanted to have every bit of information before announcing the numbers (PS3, PSVITA, PS+).  This kind of reports affect how people see the company.  So it better be a late good news than an early crappy and incomplete one.

Impressive.

But I hope there won't be any adjustments on VGC because I already prepared the NPD thread T.T

Where is it?

Those are some really good PS3 numbers. It's quite amazing to see both the PS3 and 360 doing great after all these years.

Vita sales are bad though. I said 250k for 3DS was terrible in another thread because 250k is terrible for Black Friday. 160k is even more terrible. Even the Gamecube did way (way!) better. With all the bundles this could very well have been the biggest week for the Vita in the US. The 3DS did 160k in Japan last week - and that's without any holiday boost yet! That's how bad Vita numbers are. Granted, 3DS sales aren't a lot better. Not a great Black Friday for handhelds in the US.

No, Vita sales are VERY GOOD.
3DS numbers are the ones that are bad compared to last Black Friday. This is Vita's first holiday and it looks like the marketing is finally working.

At 160k vs the 3DS 250k, the Vita is very competitive.

Well if these numbers are true, than Sony did really well to keep up with Microsoft this BF. Vita while better than Vgchartz reported still did decent at best which is kinda sad.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

The 3DS sales should be rightfully called pathetic thanks to Nintendo botching the holiday lineup in the West. 160k is still 90k below pathetic. VGC massively undertracking it doesn't suddenly turn bad numbers into good ones.

I would go easy on the vgchartz bashing, its hard to get numbers around this times. At least we know it will be adjusted. Great numbers btw

^^ This. People know that there will be massive increases in the sales of the consoles but getting an idea of the increase is no doubt pretty tough. Personally I would have expected the sales of the xbox to be greater than last year since it has a Halo out, and sales of the ps3 to DECREASE this year due to no really great popular IPs. Clearly this was not the case and VGChartz tends to be reasonable in estimating sales for in normal conditions which BF is NOT.

America...loves...PS3? Something's wrong here.

This is very surprising, and the Vita sales are far better than expected too, not far off the 3DS's. Congrats SONY. Did they do a big advertising campaign or something?

Good numbers but can I ever trust Vgchartz again? I don't know. They undertracked both systems by alot. They said PS3 sold 395000 in america while sony say 525000, a huge difference. While, Sony claim Vita sold double the amount that Vgchartz claim. Not good for the website is it, especially as Xbox was overtracked too (Microsoft said 750000 not 830000!)

vgchartz cant be thrusted in terms of sales IMO

yet there sales datas is why we are all here in the first place, kind of ironic huh?

I come here for discussion.. I stopped trusting or even checking their numbers long time ago..

Even for the BF week numbers they were accurate for MS & Nintendo which announced their numbers way back.. Sony didnt announce so they were not tracked well. They usually see past trends and continue with it.. So any sudden change is not tracked well by them.. Like the deals were announced.. So they anticipated that these deals didnt have lot of units, so they added a small bumps and thats it..

So i believe its a good place for discussion but for trusting the numbers its just like common sense..

Thats how I feel. Especially around these times of the year.
