Forums - Gaming - How many PS gamers will change allegiances in 2013?

With the X720 being highly rumoured to be released in 2013 and the PS4 supposedly being released in 2014, I started to wonder about something...

When the X720 comes out and games like CoD, Assassins Creed, Batman, Halo, etc. are released as launch titles for the X720 with supreme graphics etc. in comparison to the PS3 counterparts (excluding Halo, of course), will PS3 fans buckle and buy a X720? Will they submit to the pressure when the see all the amazing gameplay videos etc. on YouTube perhaps a year before they will get to experience such quality? I think they will. But how many? How many PS fans will Microsoft steal in the next-gen transitional period while MS is in the next-gen and Sony is still making the transition?

More importantly, will Sony be able to survive in the console business after MS has such a great headstart? Maybe, maybe not. One thing's certain though, Sony don't have the same momentum they had coming off the back of the PS2, so it'll be an uphill struggle.

Beyond 2 Souls, Last of Us, Final Fantasy, Tales of Xillia. etc

Those games are to good to pass up in 2013.

I can wait ... (:

With the quality and amount of PS3 exclusives coming next year... Not very many. Plus the fact we have no idea when the PS4 and 720 is coming.

I think I'll go full on PC before switching back to the Xbox. Console has the most ridiculous community, ads being shoved in my face even though I'm paying $60/year for the service and it's no different from any other platform. PC has tons of more experiences to be had without the fees and ads.

Well Im not that certain that the PS4 will launch after the 720... so lets wait and see

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

A year headstart means nothing...The X360 sold like 4 million in the first year? 4 million is not worth it..

Those seem like quite niche titles. The vast majority of PS gamers won't be remotely interested in them imo. It's all about the multi-plats!

Don't expect the next Xbox to have a line up a fraction near that good before PS4 launches. THird parties will save big hitters until both consoles are out.

Microsoft will probably provide financial incentives if 3rd parties are reluctant to make X720 launch titles

Gaming has changed since then, the Xbox brand was miniscule at that time. If the X720 has a year headstart then that will translate to at least a 10m+ headstart on Sonys next-gen console
