With the X720 being highly rumoured to be released in 2013 and the PS4 supposedly being released in 2014, I started to wonder about something...
When the X720 comes out and games like CoD, Assassins Creed, Batman, Halo, etc. are released as launch titles for the X720 with supreme graphics etc. in comparison to the PS3 counterparts (excluding Halo, of course), will PS3 fans buckle and buy a X720? Will they submit to the pressure when the see all the amazing gameplay videos etc. on YouTube perhaps a year before they will get to experience such quality? I think they will. But how many? How many PS fans will Microsoft steal in the next-gen transitional period while MS is in the next-gen and Sony is still making the transition?
More importantly, will Sony be able to survive in the console business after MS has such a great headstart? Maybe, maybe not. One thing's certain though, Sony don't have the same momentum they had coming off the back of the PS2, so it'll be an uphill struggle.

My prediction threads:
Wii U will sell under 40m units (made on 14th September 2012)
PS Vita will sell under 20m units (made on 30th September 2012)
Wii U will sell under 7m in 2013 - I was right
