Forums - Sales - PS3 shipments reach 70 million, PlayStation Move ships 15 million

I wonder what this thread was about. Sony didn't tell us anything we didn't already know; our numbers seem to match up nicely with these.

Move - 15 Million
Kinect - 20 Million

Whod have thought they would be so close considering the media love and lies that came with Kinect?

Interesting to see if Wonderbook will be a Million seller.

Not surprising that they are close considering each 360 console only needs one Kinect but with Move many people have more than 1.

Regarding 'microsoft having a rough start too' i'm sorry but having the ONLY available next gen console on the market for an entire year, then having your competitor release a console with an astronomical pricetag is far from 'rough' - for quite a while the price of the PlayStation 3 was almost double that of the Xbox 360, which already had a years worth of games available, compared to a small handful for the PlayStation 3, as well as launching at a lower pricetag, the economy was in a much healthier state back then too.

As someone pointed out though, people like to cherry pick facts to support their argument.

How? 2 million units on store shelves? Really? 68M vs 70M isn't that close.. ps3 is probably undertracked by half a million on here..

Either way.. gap is probably down to around a million.. microsoft announced 70M at the end of september.. while sony announced 70M entering november.. so in about a little over a months time Sony reached the same milestone microsoft did..

Microsoft cut the price of the 360 by the way.. it's officially $249 with forza and another game.. for the holidays.. while the ps3 remains $269.. they should keep it at $199 and keep that black friday bundle around to completely close the gap..

not really, xbox numbers are as of end of Q3, while sony numbers are as of 4th of november. so there is just a months gap between the two
