Crazy week with family, friends, turkeys, and new consoles out. On to catching up!

How's Epic Mickey been? The scuttlebutt on my recommendation thread has me down to a choice between Ninja Gaiden and Batman instead.

Honestly I haven't played much of it (maybe 30 minutes...), as I've had little T.V. time. I'll get to it tomorrow... but from what I've played, I've enjoyed a lot. Oswald isn't in the picture yet though, and that's where some of the complaints stem from.

38. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (1993)

Rising one spot from 39, the size of this gameboy game is immense, filled with sidequests in addition to the eight dungeons.  The ability to use multiple items at the same time gives the items a wider variety of uses and allows for a completely new set of puzzles by pairing items in creative ways.  The most influential item, roc's feather is obtained in the first dungeon and is integral to the gameplay.  The combat benefits greatly from the ability to jump and keeps battles moving quickly with otherwise undodgeable attacks.  The clever dialog, characters, and easter eggs thrown in add a wonderful feel to the world of Koholint and its foreboding Wind Fish, waiting for you at the end of the game.

Primarily an RPG player but have interest in any game that will make me think.

38. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Dude raider and the cinematic game movement starter.

37. We got it as the first in a series when it's actually the 7th in this long running strategy series that has been on handhelds and consoles.

Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword

tbh, I have no idea on the subtitle. But it's the first Fire Emblem for GBA.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

#40: Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (2008)
Last Year: 38

If I ever find a woman who looks like Shanoa from Order of Eccleisa, I'll get down on one knee that very moment. For realsies. But anyways, Order of Ecclesia is much more than a pretty face (Dem sprite graphics). Koji Igarashi latest Castlevania game is a combination of older style Castlevanias (level based, more action focused) and the newer Iga-vanias (RPG elements, Metroid inspiration). And the end result is a blast. Perfect controls, beautiful graphics, and great music are a Castlevania staple, which is why I love the series so much, and for me, Order of Ecclesia is the cream of the crop. I can't beleive it's been 4 years since our last Iga-vania. I am sad now...

I think that's right. It's either that one or Fire Emblem 6 that has that name.

I've only played 8-11, so i wouldn't quite know.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

#39: Diddy Kong Racing (1997)
Last Year: 37

Diddy Kong Racing was the game I got with my Nintendo 64. I still remember it like it was yesterday. I set up the console in the wee hours of the morning, so I could play Diddy Kong Racing before school started that day. I booted it up, and was transported to a brand new 3D world of gaming. It was glorious. Truly the most groundbreaking jump in gaming I've experienced in gaming from a graphical standpoint. Gone were the 2D sprite graphics, and in were the polygonal characters and worlds. But it wasn't just the graphics that were great, but the actual game was amazing as well. Not only was the multiplayer a blast to play, but the single player game was surprisingly great as well. Rare made a karting game into an adventure game... and beating the levels to race and defeat Wizpig was oodles of fun. So many good memories with this game. ^_^

#36: Super Mario 3D Land (2011)
Last Year: New

After finishing the sublime Galaxy 2, Nintendo EAD Tokyo started their next project on Nintendo's newest handheld. The result was Super Mario 3D Land, a wonderful 3D Mario game that also incorporates many elements from a 2D Mario game (Welcome back Tanooki suit!). With such an interesting combination of classic and new Mario elements, this game was the best of both worlds. But it wasn't just old school and new school, as the 3DS gave the game an added element of being affected by 3D imagery. The game really used this effect in interesting and fun ways, and once again established Mario as a pioneer in different gameplay elements. 3D Land took a while to get going (some would say it took getting to the second playthrough to really get to the game's high point), but the fun was always there. Can't wait to see what EAD Tokyo is up to next.

Diddy Kong Racing was the first game which i applied the phrase "I have to beat this to prove this damn game isn't better than me!"

Needless to say, that's the reason it isn't on my list. Also because i never did manage to beat Wizpig <_>

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

37) Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3 / 2008 / Stealth Action)

At one point this was my favourite PS3 game. The story is excellent, even if some of the cutscenes do get ridiculously long. You have the option to proceed with complete stealth or mix in any level of violence, and you have a whole range of gadgets at your disposal. The boss battles are fantastic and unique, and you get a lot of playtime out of it.

Complaints: Drebin made it far too easy to acquire weapons and ammo. I could just buy shoulder mounted SAM missiles in the middle of a level and obliterate everything. Also, the face camo arguably makes stealth too easy.

38th - Mario & Luigi: SuperStar Saga

Oh boy, what can I say, beside that it is an amazing game. I had never enjoyed a Mario game as much as this one at the time. Just the humor, the gameplay, heck everything. The game has very few flaws and none of them are major.

I'm also very glad that this game got a good sequel that was even more amazing. The Mario & Luigi series is definately my favorite Mario RPG series. I can also say that you can expect one more Mario & Luigi game in this list.

Now you may also be wondering why is this game at 38th. Well, there is of course games that are better, but nonetheless the game is still at my 38th and in my top 50 list.
