Forums - Gaming - Your Top 50 Games: 2012 Discussion Thread: FINISH YOUR LISTS

Final updated my post. Had to move some things around from my old top 50, but thanksfully I still had it all.

Mostly the same, but 5-6 new entries and a new game in my top ten.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Damn it, you can blame a midterm for no post the last 4 day of me not posting and a bus I have to get on at midnight so I can get back home for today. When I get home I will probably go straight to get my Wii U and play the crap out of it, but if I get home early then I will try to catch up to my #40.

42.Star Ocean: Til the End of Time (2003)

Dropping all the way from 22; is this great sci-fi RPG. My favorite game from the Star Ocean series, it has an interesting mix of standard fantasy fare and sci-fi as you're dropped from the stars onto less developed planets.  This was the first game I played with an item creation mechanic and was always excited to see what new items I might be able to invent.  The battle system was close enough to what I was used to that having to keep track of character positioning didn't turn into to big of a deal.  I really loved the story, which presents a fantastical world view that one could only dream of being true.  In addition the battle trophies were my first introduction to any sort of achievement system and provided neat little challenges (beating a boss without taking damage on accident halfway through the game still confuses me).

Primarily an RPG player but have interest in any game that will make me think.

I really wish I could make a list of 50 for you Smeagsy, but its too difficult!!

Clue for 41: This game came out in the mid 80s and featured a main character that collected bombs, ran away from robots and shares a name with a certain samurai.

Bomb Jack

I didn't think anyone would know this game...

I just want to say thanks to Smeags for running this thread, and thanks to you guys for contributing. This thread is just a great place to talk video games, and share funny stories -- it's a nice respite from the wars going on elsewhere on the site.

42. Diablo III (PC) - Great RPG. One of the few PC games on my list.

41. Mass Effect (X360) - The start of a fantastic franchise. Really good story, but the gameplay was worse than in its' sequels.

My #42 game is......

The Legend of Zelda Link to the Past was one of those SNES games I missed playing it to the fullest amount, I only managed to play a little bit of it when I had rented it in the early 1990s, I still remember going through the pre-played save file that the last person had left over at which was ironically at the end of the game. Had no idea what the hell I was doing...

Fast forward 2003, finally got the chance to play the game and man oh man what a blast I had. I couldnt believe I had missed my chance on this rare gem in the 1990s but was glad that I was in one of those "Better late than never" situations. This was officially my first full playthrough of a Zelda game and ironically I had grown some attachment to the main character (thanks to Soul Calibur 2 and Super Smash Bros Melee), loved Link and enjoyed the simple yet well made game mechanics. Although I didnt know too much about the back story of the Zelda universe since this was officially my first Zelda game that I fully played, I actually enjoyed the storyline for what it was in this game. Everything about this game oozed with Nostalgia which made me play the game for hours and hours without rest, I was fully hooked into the game and in a matter of days (after thorough exploration) finished the game.

Anyways I plan to play this game once again hopefully in LP (if not in Playthrough) in the future for my YouTube Channel.

For now I will give the game from what I remember as the very first Zelda game that I finished a score of : 9.1/10

My favorite game! I remember playing this as a kid and being so stumped with some of the puzzles. I've played it (and beaten it) several times since then. Just an amazing, timeless game. So glad you enjoyed it :)

41 ) Jak II (PS2 / 2003 / Action Adventure)

A highly enjoyable and lighthearted game with some excellent character design. Some people attack it for being kiddie GTA, but I don't mind that at all.
