Forums - Gaming - Your Top 50 Games: 2012 Discussion Thread: FINISH YOUR LISTS

#32 - Motocross Madness. Yes, yes, who would have guessed this game would be on anyone's top 50 games of all time. Number 32 no less! Really, I had a blast with this game. Even though it's trying to be realistic, it's so unrealistic is hilarious. Really, what moto-cyclist would survive a fall from 50 meters after being inexplicably shot into air when driving up a ramp at just the wrong angle? And than I don't even mean the 'air-time' in the Stunt mode. Anyway, as one of the most played multiplayer games (by me of course), it has to included as this game gave me so much fun times. Luckily though, it also had a very good map editor. No joke. It's one of the best map editors really, and I made a ton of courses with the thing!

#31 - ?
In this game, you play as someone's friend that used to be his enemy a generation before. But not really though. Most people think he was, but the enemy was really this character's father!

Guess that!

Clue for #31:

An enhanced remake of a groundbreaking NES game.

Punch Out!! Wii?

Nope! It appeared on a handheld system.

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe?

Good guess, but this game and its handheld came later.

Another hint: the game I'm describing has a number in the title.

It is a Dragon Quest game but I dont know which one D:!?

Not Dragon Quest, although one of the main antagonists is a dragon....or something like that.

Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

37. Fire Emblem
36. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
35. Red Alert 2
34. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
33. Final Fantasy VII
32. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
31. Final Fantasy XIII-2

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

32. Pokemon Blue (1996)

Up from 34th a couple years ago, unlike some of the games from later in the series this one isn't judged with the sense that I've been there, played that.  The creation of 150 new monsters for you to collect, train and battle with opened up a new world of wonder (and obsession).  On top of that, you were never quite sure what to expect would lie between you and your next gym encounter.  Everything in this one was new and the pace of the game was right on target for its audience.  To this day, the original pokemon are the ones I like most (it's hard to even remember the newer ones because I haven't sunk hundreds of hours into those games).

Primarily an RPG player but have interest in any game that will make me think.

Man..... I'm so far behind, not sure when I'll have time for this... My list has changed since last year though, and I want to participate.

Haven't had time to put up my impressions since game 35. Probably won't have time to do it in the next few days as well, so i'm going to stick with the official thread only.

Then it either Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World or Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. It's one with Yoshi right?

Not a mario game :)

Here are the clues again:

Game Boy Advance

Enhanced remake of groundbreaking NES game

One of the antagonists is a dragon-like creature

There is a number in the title.

#31 - SSX Tricky (PS2)

As guessed by no-one (boo!)  SSX Tricky was a surprising treat when it came out 2001 and quickly became one of my most played sporting games of all time.  I'm not really one for anything in the genre (aside from a few stints on Tony Hawk), but SSX Tricky perfectly mixed fast arcade gameplay with beautiful neon environments, incredible track design (Tokyo Megaplex still remains a challenge to this day) and a surprisingly deep trick system.  I thought it couldn't get any better, then in 2003 my mind was blown yet again, but I'll discuss that later in my top 50... :)

Clue for my #30 - Current gen sequel which was churned out in less than a year yet somehow turned out miles better than the original; perfect for co-op Steam gameplay.
