Legal or not i'm still smoking it.

Just because you support the legalization of something doesn't mean you are going to do or use it.

It would not effect me directly if Beer was illegal.  I wouldn't care if I never drank it again.  History has shown how terrible it was during alcohol prohibition in the USA.  Organized crime got big, drinking went up, and many people were killed.  Not a good thing.

You can support the legalization of something without ever wanting to use it.

Most of the people that voted to legalize same sex marriage in the 3 state that just passed it are strait.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Coming from a country (Australia)  that recently denied gays/lesbians the right to marry  again, I can't say I'm in the strongest position to judge other countries laws, but that honestly is just too dumb and ridicilious for my comphrehension!

Makes me wonder how many more years until shit in the world actually makes sense and is fair. :/

As a fellow Australian, that shit was a disgrace. What we need to do is kick out all those bigoted old farts with their obsolete politics who make up the vast bulk of the  government.

Even if everyone in a nation bar one person opposed gay marriage, the one person opposing it should not have their right to criticize others diminished.

Depends. If what they have to say is pretty much hate speech, then yes, it  should be diminished. You're not allowed to vilify others racially, and sexual orientation should be no different.

Yes, just like on the opposite side, christian fundamentalists may be strongly against sexual freedom and still getting involved, every now and then, in the filthiest (for their beliefs) sexual scandals!

Or ayatollahs being too against sexual freedom, but still devising complicated rules abiding to which sex with children or animals can be considered acceptable according to islamic laws and moral.    https://www.google.com/search?client=ubuntu&channel=fs&q=sex+child+ewe+camel+khomeini&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

SamuelRSmith, I don't get it. How can you as an ultra-liberal not be in favor of legalizing marijuhanna?

I see this as a first step. Yes, the prison-legal system is an industrial hegemony that will fight for its survival and try to invent new markets (petty crimes) to justify its existence, but as a society and democracy we still have to make the right choices, the most sane choices. And the war on drugs is extremely insane and unethical.

Drugs are bad but we still want them. The far majority of people like drugs as a recreation (alcohol).

And if I choose to enjoy something that is potentially harmful to me, society shouldn't punish me. If anything it should help me. And it can help me.

It's been proven that this punishment system does even more harm than the drugs in the first place. It punishes those who are already in need, it gives free money to unproductive people who should do something meaningful instead and it strengthens the criminal underworld.

All these lawyers, jailers, policemen, bureaucrats and politicans who are doing an absolutely meaningless and unproductive work by hunting drugs and drug-users under the pretext of standing for something good. And in reality they're immoral fucking leeches. It's so insane that I want to explode from anger.

my last post, was a joke. A bit of a south park reference. I disagree,I don't think a majority of people like drugs. Any average hard working citzen doesn't care for them. drugs are not legal and against the law, just don't do it. It's that simple,in my mind. The federal goverment will never make drugs legal, you can quote me on that. If they did,why stop there. Why not make anything that's bad for you legal. I mean there would be no criminal underworld at all,if we did that, right?? The whole medical weed thing,is just an excuse for people to get there fix. I personally don't buy into the magical, earthly weed thing.

I absolutely agree with you. I'm just saying that if people want to smoke marijuana they will still do regardless of the law. It's so easy to come by.

I am also 100% for same sex marriage even though I will never partake in the act.

Tell that to the cancer and AIDs patients that can't keep their food down due to legal prescription drugs that cause them to not be able to hold food down.  Marijuana gives them the appetite and settles their stomachs from the toxic side effects that these prescription drugs have.  Marijuana does provides pain relief (reason why Roman women used it after laboring in the house all day).  Also, drugs are legal just the ones that pharmaceutical companies can make the most money off of.  You think pharmaceutical companies are going to want to grow weed when they can come up with a man made drug (with worse side effects which possibly can lead to more drugs to treat those side effects) that they can patent and charge more for?  You fail to realize the split between man made and natural.

So it is okay for doctors, school teachers, etc to push prescription meth (Adderall) on kids but it isn't okay to smoke a natural growing plant.  Just keep trusting every fucking thing the government spews out.  Find me a case where marijuana overdose leads to a death?  Oh wait, you can't considering even people that have allergic reactions to marijuana don't even die.  I'll show you millions of cases of people overdosing off legal over the counter and prescription medication.   Slimebeast said he was pissed from your South Park joke (I got the reference) but this viewpoint and response pisses me off even more.  How about prescription medication being fed to our children that shouldn't even be taking these pills (anti depressant push to teenagers)?  Leads to more suicide deaths which the drug should be "preventing".  You have blinders over your eyes and you aren't seeing the real world.

Seth you are now my hero man. I agree with everything you said in this post.

I just hate how people are so against weed when they dont even know anything about it other then "its bad for you mky"

Marijuana I believe also helps cancer patients deal with the side effects of chemo, like nausea.

I believ it has also been found to have anti tumor properties as well. It is a naturally grown substance that has been a part of society foever and it's pros vastly out umber it's cons. Unfortunatey it has been demonized and people who refuse to accept the truth blindly follow what they are told, regardless of how false it may be.

Hell, I believ they have studies totlly debunking the bullshit claim that a joint= 10 cigarettes. I heard that one again at work the other day from a former cop. He went on about how it should remain outlawed because it is bad for your health. I quickly blasted him for me seeing him drinking at a company outing.

Too many dummies I tell ya. Sigh...
