Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Black Ops 2 Launch Guide (Wii U 720p 60fps, 360/ps3 SUB-HD)

My only point was a new console takes significant time to match the sales of the generation before it. You can't expect any console to match immediately. I don't know why you're trying to force this WiiU to last gen comparison already. Hell, even multiplat games on X720 will sell less than X360/PS3 next holiday.

Furthermore, COD has changed tremendously over this gen. COD2 barely sold 6m total. The latest CODs do more than that on one console.

Wii's max COD sales ~2m... last one only ~500k. This one should do better, but with if it gets a max around 1.5m, I'd call that a success and good showing for a new console. Don't expect it to reach the ~2/3rds of what it does on PS360 individually. That's just nonsense. neXtBox/PS4 won't even do that at launch.

Well I was playing along with your point, I even counted percentages when the actual sales numbers looked way too high.

There. You asked me a question, which clearly called for comparison.

As we both agreed, CoD brand has grown. This has to be accounted for in comparison, naturally. You wanted to compare 360 version to previous gen market leader, which I did after better (third to third) comparison. I did not even call out your 3 year (http://www.vgchartz.com/game/7316/call-of-duty-4-modern-warfare/) bs. You are still not happy. Well too bad, the comparison is valid no matter if you don't happen to like it.

My first post simply says you're being unrealistic to think WiiU (being the better version) would outsell PS360 individually and I asked to compare that to 360's first year where it was best version and didn't outsell others either.

2005 (~6m total)
http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=call+of+duty+2&publisher=&platform=&genre=&minSales=0&results=200
PS2: 2.67m (120m userbase but limited online)
360: 1.80m (3m userbase with Live online)
XB: 1.12m (24m userbase but limited online)
GC: 0.33m (22m userbase but no online)

Here it sold well even though the last gen game was more of an spin-off of the main COD PC/360 game.

2006 (~7m total - current gen not supported beyond PS2/Xbox and by now multiplayer was in full swing on Live/PSN)
http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=call+of+duty+3&publisher=&platform=&genre=&minSales=0&results=200
360: 2.6m (7m userbase with online)
Wii: 2.2m (4m userbase, basically PS2 version)
PS3: 1.4m (3m userbase with online)
PS2: 1m (130m userbase but limited online)

After this is were COD started to explode due to console having a more PC like online gameplay. So yes, It only took the 2nd year for X360 to by pass last gen. However, it also have significant improvements due to online features that simply didnt' exist on previous gen.

WiiU won't have that difference. The game is superior in minor way with the same overall gameplay. 360 not only had better visuals but also an entirely different and far more enhanced online play.

Its kinda like comparing the quick adoption of DVD over VHS vs the slower adoption of Bluray over DVD. While both are improvments in their own rights, the differences DVD gave over VHS were vastly more noticeable than that of Bluray over DVD.

If WiiU can get 1.5 to 2m (it should) then I think there is argument to be made that its a normal transition of all apsects of gamers.

It needs clarification on the fps part, but is indeed weird that one has "max" while the other doesnt, things could go either way since it's  activision.

Yes, you did. As you wished, I compared 360 first year CoD to PS2 CoD from the same year. As they are similar multiplatforms, comparison is valid. I even accounted for CoD growth by calculating the percentages and compared to previous gen market leader instead of third place, yet you are still unhappy.

Why is there a sense of desperation from Nintendo fans to consistently try to prove to us that the Wiiu is more powerful than the PS3/360? If there is some doubt now, there exist the issue.

I really don't know, it should be obvious to anyone that Wii U is more powerful than current consoles. It is a matter of how much more powerful it is. In my opinion, the difference is less than wii-ps360 difference in power.

Is TrueHD the same as FullHD? I wish they would stick one term.

Anyhow according to some wii u site that I can't recall someone claimed that someone from Nintendo claimed that the wii u capabilities of running in 1080p depends on the amount of graphics data being sent to the gamepad during the game.

If a game makes little use of graphics on the gamepad, then 1080p is easy, put some relatively heavy work on the gamepad and 720p is best.

Could be rubbish for all I know but ....

Maybe an option to restrict the gamepads graphics if you so wish to get 1080p is the way forward but I suppose that's more coding.

Don't care about graphics but I like that they added support for Wiimotes. I'm a pessimist and really expected zero support for that control scheme for WiiU titles.

Agree, it's awesome that the Wiimote control support is there, they're simply great for fps's, feels really good once you're used to it.

what kinda of install is that for the ps3 last i checked when installing any COD on 360 after cod4 theres a noticeable advantage in texture rendering compared to the ps3 aswell as load times
