Forums - Nintendo - Dragon Quest VII remake announced for 3DS - February 7, 2013

OH MY G-

Oh, it's a Dragon Quest game. The only DQ game I like is DQV, so... not much hype from me.

Localization for this game is very easy... since it's already localized!

They are going to want to do something a little more updated to be closer to the original Japanese script as well as more natural.

I never played DQVII but I wonder if they will do anything about the pacing, I heard even for an old school style RPG it is crazy long thanks to fetch quests upon fetch quests.

It's not fetch quests. It's a ton of mini-scenarios. The game starts only with your tiny island, but you keep adding islands (and continents) to the world by completing those mini-scenarios (both in the past and present). It's like a lot of mini-rpgs connected to another - some of them pretty amazing, some of them just the usual (defeat the beast that's terrifying our village - but always with a twist  - the beast is not what it looks like). In the end the world becomes huge.

There are more surprises, inclunding a big one near the end, but the game is mostly long because of those.

Great for Japan but Dragon Quest isn't popular in America or Europe and that is where the 3DS is suffering.

Cool news. How good is this game though? Hopefully the game is structured like DQ8. The graphics seem pretty good.

DQ7 and MH4 early in the year for 3DS is insane.

Indeed. Makes you wonder what they've got cooking for late 2013.

It's not as good as DQ 8 (masterpiece), but that's not saying it's bad. In fact, it's quite charming, full of funny characters (since it's dozens of lttle stories interconnected in a big one - literally full of them everywhere).

It's very fast too - the battles and story goes in a zip, and that is great, since the game is probably the longest RPG ever.

nooooooo... this game was crazy long ... can't.. go.. through... that.. again...

This is exactly why the portable option is the best one, you can play 20 minutes everytime you want, be it in the bathroom, in the bus or before going to sleep, I played the PS version but I got stuck after the egyptian village and cant continue I hope this comes here and Im buying it

Now my wanted list for the 3DS includes: Ace Attorney 5, Shin Megami tensei 4, Layton Vs Wright, Dragon Quest 7, Paper Mario and some other games I cant remember right now, is insane

I think DQ8 is a masterpiece too. DQ9 was trash and I still need to get DQ5.

Please be like DQ8.

You wont be dissapointed but remember Deborah is the BEST wife, the other 2 are losers in comparison and I have only played DQ5, 7, 8 and 9, and I loved them all

PD: Sorry for the double post

I'll wait till it gets back to $15. It used to be around $20 regularly and it was like $11 from a deal at some point.

Yeah, I bought it when it was part of a gold box sale at 19.99 but with shipping it was the full 40 xD, even so it was worth it and if you wait for a sale like that you will end up paying shipping

Remember that Im from Mexico and Amazon rape us with shipping, is cheaper the shipping to Mongolia than to Mexico or Brasil xD
