Seriously though, whats with you people and specs? Its the same mentality that took us to the current sad state of the gaming industry where 90% of the budget is spent on graphics and 10% on figuring out fun and engaging gameplay. 

I have Android 4.0 and Windows 8 dual booting on my Acer W500 tablet and honestly... you could put Android on a tablet with i7 running overclocked at 5 Ghz with a 4K display, it really won't change the fact that I find the Windows 8 interface, layout and design ideology more enjoyable to use.

Other people feel differently and prefer Android...no big deal. But since we cant quantify and measure preferences, we cling on to trivial things like resolution and CPU/GPU specs.

The specs are important though. While people will definitely align themselves more with a particular experience the OS gives you, the hardware is a very significant part of that equation.

This is even more true with people who have not used any of the devices or OSs. They are more than likely going to go with what appears to be the best value when everything else is considered equal. Frankly, the OS differences really are equal in almost any way. The only real difference comes to user experiences on the very little things.

You prefer tiles and probably tied to Live.
Others prefer iTunes and are tied to it.
I prefer widgets, flexibility, and openness and I a tied to Google's services.

However, I think the facts are, Google is now leading this mobile industry. From Phones to tablets, they are now the innovators (in terms of hardware and software) and their OEMs provide the most selection. 4.x Android is miles better than 2.x which was miles better than 1.x. Apps have always gotten better over time on Android and this will continue to expand in tablet specific experiences.

Win8 appears to have given MS a solid base to have its full ecosystem and will certainly provide a good third competitor.
Apple will remain there as well as their ecosystem is a tough one to break from and they are continuously seen as the "cool" device.

The Nexus 10 comes in either a 16gb or 32gb configuration and has no SD card expandable storage. Exactly like the ipad except that the ipad has 3 storage sizes available. (16gb/32gb/64gb)

Platform specific apps are very useful as they tend to use the extra space available on the tablet more effectively rather than just being a blown up phone app. Take a look at this article which compares iphone apps versus their ipad counterparts. There are many free apps on ios as well, plus many paid ones also get discounted or become free for awhile. Appshopper ( http://appshopper.com/ ) is a good website/app to use for that. They also have a "app activity" for each app showing if a new update released for example or if there was a temporary price drop, etc.

It is a low price (for an new unlocked phone), but I guess it just depends on your usage. For my phone I went with the 32gb version since I tend to use my old ipod nano to store all of the music I'm currently listening to instead of using up the space on my phone. (saves my phone battery as well! ) If not I would definitely have gone for the 64gb version. On my ipad I tend to keep a lot of videos/music/etc. on there which is why I went for the 64gb version (and why I chose it again.) It was really useful when I took it with me on my trip back to the USA about 2 months ago.

Lack of expandable storage is a flaw with both, but iPad is especially more expensive so shouldn't get with lack of extra storage as it's nearly £100 extra on an Nexus 10gb 32gb, which is a lot of money

As for apps, it seems most apps start out for free and android but costs 69p on ios, thats what it seems like. But i'm also sure given the time, apps for android tablets will come, it justs needs time, it's not like iPad has so many apps when they ipad 2 anyway.

But I suppose for apple's sake its good they have a 64gb model, even though it's very expensive at £559! But it's good it got some use fot it though

Also, I think the nexus 4 is a brilliant buy for it, because of it's pricepoint, only £279 for 16gb. But it's down to individual what products you like really. I like ios but it's product just seems too expensive and luckily i like android too, so i can get that instead.

Nexus, as I see it, has the best value for specs. I dont like the OS.

Surface RT, as I see it is the best for features. Although the keyboard and the FREE OFFICE is a killer move it for me. BUT the camera are crap and the resolution is he weakest out of all. 

Ipad is the best for OS. Although crap hardware, expensive.

Surface RT is a must buy for this guy.

I picked up Ainol novo fire 7" for 130$ including shipping. FAR better choice than that expensive google tablet.

yea, I had the novo7 fire/flame(new firmware edition) aswell

very decent tablet and a very good price - just not quite good enough in the tasks I need a tablet to do (drawing wasn't possible as it's touchscreen didn't work well with my capacitive stylus / HDMI picture quality wasn't that good either), so I returned that one

currently I'm pretty interested in the Ainol novo8 dream which releases in nov (no idea when it will be available here in germany though..), but I'm not sure how good the quad-core in that device is

Crap hardware...you're having a laugh surely.  Don't you realise that the CPU/GPU in the Surface RT is comparable with the A5 in the iPad Mini and iPad 2, we are now on the iPad 4, which has an A6X which is at least 4 times as powerful, also the cameras are better and the screen is significantly better.  As far as I can see it, the only good thing about the Surface RT is the way Windows 8 works.

Well I was checking out the prices for the Nexus 10 here in Japan and it's 36,800 yen (16gb) or 44,800 yen (32gb) a difference of 8,000 yen between the two. (~$100 USD), which is the price difference Apple uses as well when adding storage. (Base 16gb ipad retina is 42,800 yen)

What's strange is that for the Nexus 7, Google charges either 19,800 yen (16gb) or 24,800 yen (32gb) a difference of 5,000 yen for the storage upgrade. (~$62 USD) These prices are from the Google Play Store. I wonder why they charge more to upgrade the storage space on the Nexus 10 compared to the Nexus 7? The N7 came out first as well.

The limited storage is just a real turn off. I know some people say "I can just stream what I need.", but streaming uses up your data as well as your battery. (cellular antennas use more power compared to wifi or having the data locally)

And here is the reason why they don't add an SD card slot as it means more people will buy the lower end model, so they would need to make that model more expensive.

I guess, but that is still quite a discrepancy for adding the same "extra 16gb" of storage to a device. The lower cost for storage on the N7 puts the 32gb version at the same price as the new 32gb ipod touch and still somewhat under the price for the 16gb ipad mini (28,800 yen). The higher cost for storage actually puts the 32gb N10 above the price for the baseline 16gb ipad retina model, (44,800 yen vs. 42,800 yen) unlike in the US which has them at the same price.)

I don't think I agree with the 'Google leading the mobile industry' statemen.

Google is doing most things but I am not sure everything is sticking. the only reason they are having large success with Android is price and lack of competition at low price points. Most north american stores will have 20 low end android phones vs what, 2-3 low end Nokia Windows phones, if that. In Europe and Asia it's even worse... Just came back from Serbia and they've never even seen a Windows Phone overthere and iPhone is waaay too expensive for them (1000 euros). 

Apple is undisputetly the leader on the mobile industry IMO.

Lets compare the mobile strategy of the 3 companies with baseball...

Apple essentially are able to hit a home run every 4 years and then just talk about that home run and collect royalties.

Google has to bunt, do singles, doubles, steal bases, pinch hit and everything else in between just to compete with Apple.

And thus far, Microsoft has been hitting 1 double every inning and stranding the runner on second
