People curious about how itrackr works...it is just a fancier version of the XBOX 360 In-Store Inventory Tracker

Made by the same person http://untitlednet.com/blogtopic.aspx?id=83

My associations are through untitlednet.

Related incident of creator about stock flags:

So I drive down to the Sawgrass BestBuy here, all excited and anxious, I quickly looked for an employee in the videogame section. I asked “Do you guys have any Xbox 360? Did you get them today?”, and he just shook his head, “no”, all through my sentence. I asked him to please check the computer to see if it shows up in the inventory. I was almost certain it would show up…..

I stood while he checked the computer in front of me. He typed “xbox 360” what looked like a web site driven store inventory and the results came back negative. He said, “See?”. So my excitement was killed and I was now pissed. I decided to go play the kiosk, but then said to my self to give it another try with someone else.
I looked for another guy in the music section, told him that the online site shows that this store has em’ in stock. He said that he was certain they weren’t in-stock, but he’ll look it up for me on the computer. Unlike the last guy, this guy actually selected the “Video Game / Hardware” category in the inquiry and the Premium & Core sku’s were displayed.

He clicked on the Core system and he said “Nope, none in stock”. I told him to go back and try the Premium. We both looked at the screen and my eyes lit up when I saw “On Hand: 6”. Then he says, “Hmmm... Let me check the back, I don’t remember them coming in.”

So I’m all happy again as I followed him to the “Employees Only” double door. Moments later, he returns shaking his head, “Nope, none are back there.” This is when I’m thinking to myself: “All week and my app didn’t alarm till now... I don’t believe him.

I asked him if there was a manager present, and he pointed me to the customer service area. I stopped the manager and said to him, “I know the 360 is a hot item, and you guys haven’t had em’ in stock for awhile, but your online inventory is showing that you have six. My phone even alerted me.” He said, “Well, I’m the inventory manager so I would know and I don’t believe they came in yet – but I’ll check the system.”

We both go over to the same computer the last guy checked it on and the last employe was there too. But this time, he was checking the xbox 360 for someone else! Another dood was there having him checked to see. The dood (I forgot his name) said that he’s been calling BB’s every day and he came all the way from Miami because the person on the phone told him their computers say it’s in stock. I laughed and said “See? I’m not crazy.”

The manager said, “Let me check our inventory.” So we both follow the employee and manager to the restricted double doors. While they were in there, I was just picturing them coming back out with two shiny premium boxes. They come back….. empty handed.

”There’s nothing there guys, but maybe we’re getting them in very soon.”, the manager said. And then, when the employee walks off, he says to us “Look guys, I’m going to step way across the line here, but we have four and we’ll be selling them tomorrow… be here 10 AM”

Now I’m like WHAT? Can’t you just remove them from your pc and I give you the money now? He says “No I really can’t do that”. The dood and I tried to convince him, but no luck. I guess this store is only allowed to sell them the day after.

So the dood and I leave, and he told me how he’s going to be there etc etc. I’m still little disappointed he didn’t get to get one, since he drove from Miami and all. But at the same time, I’m really happy to see that my app worked like a charm. I hope it gets you guys a 360! Good luck!

And the reason you see no new articles is due to both Itrackr and a site/direction redesign

Actually if it jumped by that much it means stores are releasing stock which is good, now we'll get to see just how much Nintendo can sell in a month when it has stock

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Yep i'd prefer to see the sales of a stocked month over a demand > supply month.  Especially when we don't really know if Nintendo was holding back stock at the end of March or not (I don't doubt it seeing Wii go back up to75k this week in Japan).

*hopes itrackr stays at a high percentage*

I'm not really sure how the 360 site works but I know itrackr really just uses online inventory systems that stores like Circuit City & Target have available on their website. While the Wii is in high demand, the stores have the "in stock" deactivated for its ID number. However, there are known "backdoor" access ways to check these inventories. You know why Walmart isn't included on itrackr? It doesn't have any online stock tracking at their website. Anyway, from personal experience, I know that the sites themselves are often out of date which is why itrackr is really hit and miss. A local Target was listed as in stock for several days but I knew first hand they didn't have it on shelves and would say they didn't have any if asked. Gamestop/EB system is actually the worst for being up to date.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

NFreak - the fact that the console has remained sold out. Let me give an example.

10million people want a flipper...

The company that makes the flipper makes 1million/month.

On average each month 10 *more* people want the flipper.

It will remain sold out for 10 months, with a 1million/month production.

After 10 months, only 10 people want it a month. So that means they are producing 999,990 more units/month.

So in 10 months, they will have sold 10million units.

in 11 months, they would have sold... 10,000,100 units.

This is highly exagurated numbers. But I feel the wii is in a similar boat.

It's not Doom and gloom. It's facts, that I beleive. Normally I word stuff like. "Has it finally met demand." not. "The Wii met demand and is gonna fail."

I just want good games, that are worth playing. That's all I want. I dont give a damn what console.

Kwaad, seriously, stop.  You continue to blatantly disregard facts to instigate and annoy.  Youve been temp and perma banned and then let back on for some reason.  Try this for a refreshing change:  Post your opinion and when people like Nfreak and others in this thread completely and utterley refute your opinion, have the nads to step up and admit your statement was probably out of line and move on.  Everyone has a right to an opinion and has the right to defend it.  The problem is that you often post blatantly ignorant (ignorant = uninformed) statements and even though shown as such you just keep going.  Again, please, give it a rest.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Here's an interesting bit of data from Itrakr from my local list of stores saying the Wii is "in stock" as of this morning:

5 out of 17 (roughly 29%) retailers show the Wii in stock at 12:24 AM central.   Mousing over the clock gives you a "last updated" time.  Here are the last updates for the 5 showing "stock"

Comp USA - In stock - Time Elapsed Since Last update - 40 Days, 8 hours, 4 minutes.

Target # 1 - In stock - Time Elapsed Since Last update - 3 Days, 5 hours, 39 minutes.

Target # 2 - In stock - Time Elapsed Since Last update - 3 Days, 11 hours, 59 minutes.

Target # 3 - In stock - Time Elapsed Since Last update - 3 Days, 6 hours, 18 minutes.

Gamestop # 1 - In stock - Time Elapsed Since Last update - 1 day, 7 hours, 25 minutes.

The targets may have stock they are holding for Sunday, but the other two stores here don't.  Clearly a 40 day old update is worthless and Gamestop doesn't hold systems.  I called, they aren't in stock.   So I ask this:  How good is Itrackr, really, at predicting true stock status?

I think that Kwaad wants another Wii, that's why he's keeping the itrack post updating everytime when the % of Wiis aviables on stocks rises. He is doing this for us, so be happy for that.

@DonWii

You don't drive an American car so you don't play an American console? Exactly what do cars and consoles have to do with each other? Kinda crazy that the only reason you could come up with for dissing the 360 is that there's an American company behind it. Why not come up with something equally idiotic like you don't like the letter "X"?

Do you also not watch American tv shows and movies, you don't read American made books and magazines, and don't go to American websites? Where does the anti-Americanism you have stop? By the way where're you from?

Ok, off topic but i think its a lot more interesting than the actual topic: =)

From a eurocentric (and in my case scandinavian) point of view we do love american software (and films, books etc). We are not so impressed with american hardware, we really do prefer european or asian manufacturers. And thats what cars and consoles has to do with each other. I guess.

Its nothing personal, but myself (and most of my friends) are all *very* anti-American. Especially recently (yes, thanks George W...).

That said, we don't think much of the direction that Australia is heading in at the moment either (following the US far too much - all waiting for the end of the year, to kick Johnny & the Liberals out of office...).

I do have a few friends who are American, and I like them a lot... many of them share the same views as me.

I can generally sum it up by saying there is a (perceived?) attitude that Americans care about themselves much, much, MUCH more than people around them (let alone people in other countries...). This is what has screwed the world over, as it is today...

While I despise GWB as much as anyone, I don't get that paragraph. Before President Dunce was in office, if any sort of conflict happened in the world. The U.S. was expected to come to the rescue. I remember Yugoslavia and I'm glad we went over there to help stop the genocide, but Yugoslavia was European country. Why couldn't Europe take the lead with the US assisting and not vice versa. We are damned if we do and damned if we don't. When ever something goes down, either the US has do something about it or other nations twiddle their thumbs while chiding us for doing nothing. The US didn't intervene in Rwanda nor Sudan and did any other nations step in our stead? Nope, but those same nations will be looking at the US wondering when we'll do something the next time a crisis arises.

Okay no more of topic rants for me for today. As for the topic, it seems like the same people that were up in arms about the Wii's "lack" of units are the very same ones saying the Wii is in trouble because Nintendo recently shipped a large supply of units to retailers. Seems like they are damned if they do and damned if they don't as well.
