I have nothing against the Vita, but I sincerely doubt that will happen. The 3DS will most likely not reach DS levels, but that gives no reason for the Vita to explode in sales.

In other words: The 3DS is following the path of the DS, more or less, though Japan is doing better than the West everything's not too far off. With the Vita's numbers, only a miracle can turn it around right now. I too wait for after christmas, but I don't think it'll matter.

It is an intressting take on the situation, but Nintendo has probably decided that they should be selling their titles during the first six months, or it may just be the Wii U.
However I don't think Vita has a chance in the west, it sold just under 10k last week in the US, but the Europe numbers are higher than the rest, but the same goes for the 3DS. For some reason it has been the 70k's during the last couple of weeks.

There is no dedicated handheld market in the West.

Go ahead and try to get an average 16 year old to pull out a game handheld and play in the vicinity of other girls, and see how long that lasts, lol.

With Wii U coming and 720/PS4 hype starting up next year, the Vita is going to end up no different than the PSP was without those initial solid years where it was supposed to the "next iPod".

The West is all about cell phones ... if some one wants to play Call of Duty, that's what their PS3/360 with a 50-inch screen is for.

For the 20-30 minutes the average 15-32 year old male has in free time on the road, texting friends, web browsing, email, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, watching TV episodes, Twitter, (ahem porn), and playing affordable $1-$5 games gets the job more than done.

Last gen the DS's strongest market was America. Japan was good for the PSP. This gen it will swap with the 3DS doing its best in Japan while the Vita will do best in the west. This has nothing to do with 3DS verse Vita sales.

10k/week in the US (give or take) given that it's 3x the size of the Japanese market is actually worse than what they're doing in Japan.

Japan is going to be the only market where older teenagers/adults still play handhelds, because in Japan the handheld has replaced the home console for convienance sake. That will never happen in the US.

Um...dude I think you got your dates mixed up. We're in October not April there is no April fools day in October ok? Seriously, if there were consistent signs of the Vita having some sort of life in it, I would say you have a case. But seeing how it barely manages to sell 2-3 mil units worldwide; after releasing nearly a year ago in Japan (the Vita's and Sony's biggest handheld market). I can confindently say the handheld is a disaster for Sony! The release of the Wii U, along with iPad mini (same price range) just spells more trouble for Sony's anemic(being nice) handheld.
