Whoever wrote this article obviously didn't reach the end of God of War 3.(SPOILER: Kratos is alive)
Anyway only 1 real God of War game on PS3. That is not enough. I need for God of War.

No. If your going to have a long running series of games, Make sure to change them up every once in awhile. Thats the point. Number of installments wont matter if it manages to stay fresh. |
But that's my point. It does stay fresh. If you play God of War I all the way up to III you will notice the improvements made. Not only graphically but gameplay mechanics aswell. God of War I,II and III all have a metacritic of 92+.
i played GoW 2 on the PS2, didnt like very much, the camera was bad, and the game was boring, i sincerely dont care at all about this franchisea anymore, i would rather play Pronce of persia, DevilMayCry or even Bayonetta, i dont know if it has to stop or not, but i would consider buying it if they changed the theme a bit, move on to something else.
if GoW changed drastically, that would really catch my attention, maybe thats just me though :P
What a terrible article. He offered no justification; he just gave some series background and then said "God of War needs to end".
I think Kratos ought to be ditched as a protagonist, because they've explored every period of his life and there's really nothing more to know and no suspense left. But the series should continue. Perhaps the story of the Creation, or something set in a different mythology.

No, only an absolutely tasteless fool would say otherwise, whether you're into the franchise or not you have to appreciate how successful it is and how every singly game they've released has been a massively critically acclaimed hit, why the hell would Sony want that to end their second biggest and most critically acclaimed franchise when they are guaranteed to sell millions. The only thing that has to stop is entitled attention seeking idiots stop turning to the internet to share opinions nobody in the real would agrees with (Not at you by the way riderz13371). |
I love God of War as much as the next guy but the underlined is just not true, you even say so yourself at the end of your post.

It might catch your attention but it would lose the attention of many other people who already enjoy the series which could hurt the franchise.

It's may not be the best selling franchise but it is critically acclaimed (lowest metacritic is 92 - not including psp games) and has won many awards.
This article literally didn't bring up a single point as to why the series shouldn't continue. I'm confused.

Riderz
not necessarily, a theme/main character change, keeping the gameplay that fans surely love shouldnt instantly derivate into less sales
they could actually try to appeal to a broader audience keeping the franchise fans on boat, like moving it onto another mythological theme or era, but at the same time keeping Kratos there as a secondary character or something......there are things that can be made, i think you like the series so much that you refuse to change, even if it can be beneficial for the franchise
although its selling better than ever, so maybe i should stfu ;)
we`ll see how much Ascension sells

Changing the way the main character looks or simply changing it completely is dangerous. Look at infamous 2. They changed how Cole looked and fans were outraged so Sucker Punch changed it back to the old cole. Also look at DMC. They changed the main character completely and people are pissed off. We will see how the sales of that DMC are compared to the others so it's too soon to judge that game.
