Decreasing people on welfare doesn't mean we're improving the states. It really depends who you're cutting when you cut on these programs.

Also your statement makes little to no sense at all. Just because a candidate is in office when things start to get better doesn't mean the candidate is responsible. His opponent in four years could very well be much more appealing.

I would argue getting people off welfare does indeed improve the state of things. Just because a candidate is in the office when things are starting to get better does not mean he is not responsible for it.

If you take people off of food stamps who need it at least temporarily, you are hindering their ability to help the economy grow.  There's no sure way to only eliminate people who are abusing the system.  Not only that, but the welfare system accounts for a very small portion of the debt.  It's a much better idea to focus on finding ways to create jobs than to cut people on welfare.

Make those applying for food stamps take a drug test and make anyone benefiting from said food stamps under that household take a drug test too.

So you're under the assumption that all people who are doing drugs that have food stamps and/or on some kind of welfare are abusing it?  I doubt it.

When I get paid and get taxed 20% federal, then I will make any assumption I want. Especially since I work in retail and these so called poor people have fucking iPhones and are running food stamp cards.

I'm not denying that there are people who abuse it.  I'm just stating that there are certainly people who really need it who may not pass a drug test and whatnot.  You don't seem to have a thorough knowledge of politics or how the real world is.  The reality is that things aren't so simple, and even if food stamps were to supply $200 to 250,000,000 people every month for a year, that would be $600 billion dollars in a year, which still wouldn't cover our deficit (over $1 trillion) we have in America.  Just so you know, the USA population is around 300,000,000.

How are you being taxed 20% working in retail?  You have to be making over 35K a year to be taxed at that rate.  That is pretty fucking good for a retail job.

I would to see this to believe it, he says he will fix everything but doesn't say how he will do it, which is pretty stupid

The government should just get rid of their secret programs. Problem solved :3

This is a pretty stupid statement, untrue, and does not answer the question posed.

Oh well, i just don't think Romney would be a good president, he would probably be worse than Bush was. romney don't seem likely to win, and if he did, I doubt America would be much better because of him.

Why does everyone assume he means throw people off of welfare. that is not what was said. There could be less people on welfare because the economy gets better and they get better jobs and get themselves off of welfare.

Google "Paul Ryan budget" and "Catholic Bishops".  It is the Romney-Ryan team that is supposed to fix the economy, and get the budget under control.  The Paul Ryan budget does slash aid to the poor.  The Roman Catholic bishops condemned this.

If you want to know why people assume this, it is because there is plenty evidence to believe such is what would happen.  Even on this forum, those with an affinity for Romney/GOP/Libertarian keeps speaking of getting rid of welfare.  It is part of the DNA on this side.

So, with all this, why wouldn't people think Romney won't slash welfare?  After all, need to do something about the 47% moocher class that won't take responsibility for themselves, and expect such luxuries as food and shelter.

What are you talking about? You know food stamps are actually good for the economy right?

But to answer your question. Yes.

Food stamps aren't good or bad for the economy, just a transfer of wealth.
