Forums - Politics - If Mitt Romney Wins and does a good job.

Will you vote/support Mitt Romney in four years if he wins and improves the state of the United States. By improve I mean that he decreases people on welfare/foodstamps and greatly increases the economy and handles overseas well.

Decreasing people on welfare doesn't mean we're improving the states. It really depends who you're cutting when you cut on these programs.

Also your statement makes little to no sense at all. Just because a candidate is in office when things start to get better doesn't mean the candidate is responsible. His opponent in four years could very well be much more appealing.

I do not care. He will not support green policies.

I would argue getting people off welfare does indeed improve the state of things. Just because a candidate is in the office when things are starting to get better does not mean he is not responsible for it.

Foodstamps are socialized economy booster (It's just demonized in America). You're using a fraction tax dollars to boost the economy and the private sector still profits off of it, much like the private sector is profiting off of education more than ever today. Welfare doesn't need to be decreased, jobs just need to increase which will raise the pay grade there just needs to be a president who will fight for American jobs. There might never be another FDR but hell, Americans need to wake the fuck up, Romney is not it.

If you take people off of food stamps who need it at least temporarily, you are hindering their ability to help the economy grow.  There's no sure way to only eliminate people who are abusing the system.  Not only that, but the welfare system accounts for a very small portion of the debt.  It's a much better idea to focus on finding ways to create jobs than to cut people on welfare.

Throwing people off welfare doesn't suddenly mean their problems go away.

Think further on what the standards of improved are, and what the president of the United States actuallky can do.

Why does everyone assume he means throw people off of welfare. that is not what was said. There could be less people on welfare because the economy gets better and they get better jobs and get themselves off of welfare.

If I see pigs flying

If he does a good job based on what I think a good job is, then I will vote for him. As it stands, I'm making more money and living more comfortably than I ever have before so I'll vote Obama this time. I think he improved my standard of living more than during the Bush years. If Romney wins, he'll get the same chance from me.
