Forums - General - Would you abort your unborn child if you know that he/she would be mentally retarded?

"Superchunk" made a similar thread asking if you would abort your unborn child if you knew he/she would be gay. I think it was very interesting. So  I wana know if you would abort your unborn child if you knew that he/she would be mentally retarded.    Keep in mind that mental illness can cause a lot of hardships to a lot of families.

I trust no one, not even myself.

no thats evil.

and to answer the other thread. no i wouldnt abort anybody, even if they were gay. but i also disagree with the premise of that thread. i dont think people are born gay, therefore i dont believe its possible to abort a gay child.

and even if i did agree that a baby can be gay, i wouldnt dream of aborting it, because life is too important.

I aint going to touch this thread with a 20 foot barge pole.

would you?

No, I would not (I answered 'no' to the gay child as well).

I think the only possibility I'd go for abortion is if the fetus had no brain and thus would die immediately after born. Still, a painful decision to make.

There are lots of people who would say yes (probably over 50% of the population). Many families have abortions at 26 weeks (when a Down's syndrome test can be carried out) when they realise their child will have Down's syndrome

Yes. What is the real point? You say you'll love the child/adult no matter what. You are going to end being depressed and fed up in the situation you will be forced to deal with forever. And it isn't fair to the person too. They will NEVER have a normal life. If it's caught before birth, do it.

Yes, I would.

We need moar Zelda, now!

We need moar Unchartedzz!

We need less DLCs.

Yes. It's not a challenge I would be up for, and I don't think it would be fair to let it be born, just so I can put it up for adoption and leave it up to the taxpayer to take care of.

if it meant a lifetime of pain and suffering for my child and my family then yes.
