Nintendo has every opportunity to clean up in Japan right now. They need to sell as many units as possible before the PS4 launches.

Color choice should have been a given, but it is limited stock as it is and I wanted Black anyways, so Deluxe set was perfect for me.

A poll from a thousand or so people doesn't actually represent hundreds of thousands to millions of people.

I love how Yahoo spins political polls like this.

It's just not practical to get millions of people or even tens of thousands of people surveyed.  The best you can do is get a random sample (where everyone has an equal probability of being selected) and generalize it to the greater population (external validity). 

It's the best that can be done.  You are right though, if anything, these numbers apply to Famitsu readers moreso than the general population.

But at least Nintendo has the core crowd interested in the Wii U, so that's a plus.

The Wii U seems like something that could be quite attractive to the Japanese.

A poll from 1000 people does represent quite a few people fairly well. I'd be more concerned about were they collected this information from (like if they collected it from outside a Pokemon shop or something, they'd obviously get more Nintendo bias and other areas would have similar affects).

I still expect the WiiU to be huge in Japan, but maybe not quite as all dominating as this poll may have you believe.

will there be a pikachu edition? :P
