A poll from 1000 people does represent quite a few people fairly well. I'd be more concerned about were they collected this information from (like if they collected it from outside a Pokemon shop or something, they'd obviously get more Nintendo bias and other areas would have similar affects).
I still expect the WiiU to be huge in Japan, but maybe not quite as all dominating as this poll may have you believe.
