Forums - Nintendo - Puddle Runs At Full 1080p & 60 FPS On Wii U

Yes, it ran this. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who wasn't impressed by it.

Sure, it looks nice, but not really what I consider a generational leap. Not in the slightest.

Doesn't matter if you found it impressive or not. The PS3/360 couldn't run that even at 480p without extensive downgrades to the shading and polygon detail. That video is what next graphics(soon to be current gen in 1 month) look like.

That's beside the point. The PS2 was also the weakest of its gen.

It's not beside the point, it IS the point. You're comparing the most powerful console of this generation to the least powerful of the next and expecting an enormous leap, but that has NEVER been the case. Compare the weakest to the weakest (Wii to Wii U) or the strongest to the strongest (PS3 to ...well, we don't know yet). You can compare the Wii U to the PS3 if you want, but saying "it's not enough of a leap to truly be next-gen" is completely missing the point. The Wii U isn't a leap from PS3 any more than the Dreamcast was a leap from the N64.

And PS2 was weaker than Dreamcast? That's news to me.

"Those 360 games are about as graphically intensive "

whats so graphically intensive about puddle?

While Puddle was about as fun as its namesake, it did have a puddle of fluid moving around and probably had more going on than any of the 1080p 60fps games listed for the PS360 far as I can tell.

Wait, so this

is more graphically intensive then this?

I have no doubt the WiiU can produce better then WipeoutHD on ps3.
The real news here is that it can stream 60fps to the WiiU pad. (Although the pad is only 854x480, maybe not that impressive after all)

I was only basing it on the list given in this thread, hadn't noticed it was that old, I'd have to agree that Wipeout HD probably has more going on, and so to do Flower and Journey assuming those two meet the requirements.

...

That video could have been run on any system. Was it real time? Doubt it highly. So far launch muitl plats are looking worse on wii u, don't give me that launch games non sense, the wiiu has twice the ram for games and newer gpu, it should out shine ps3 out of the gate, but it's not. The difference between 720 and 1080 is marginal to the viewer, even less so on a game like puddle. Trust me, puddle is nothing to be excited about.

1. Which video you are talking about?

2. The multi plats games look the same or slightly better, but definitely not worst, no idea where you got that from.

That is total rubbish. Every multiplat to date has been stated "by the devs themselves" to be the best on the Wii U exept for games made by EA who are intenionally giving the Wii U worse games.

I could make a PS360 game that runs at 1080p 60FPS with Vsynch, full 16x AA and even 3D... it'd be a side scroller with stick people, whey!

Wipeout HD on PS3 is graphically intensive and it runs at 1080p, 60FPS.

LOLOL

Wait...you're actually being serious?

I mean, yes, the Wii U is more powerful than the PS3 and the 360. But that's the problem....its being compared to...the PS3 and 360. Congrats, it can run games at a higher resolution/framerate than systems that came out 6 years ago. Achievement unlocked?

Also that game is LocoRoco with less style.

Thats not what we are hearing from the people who have viewed the game. You seem to take offense to this pretty easly. Fact is it dosn't matter that it might to slightly better than 6 and 7 year old systems. What going to happen when the other launch? It's going to be a bigger leap from Wiiu to ps/xbox than from ps/xbox to wiiu.
