Forums - Sales - Windows still dominate over MAC adn the IOS. Operating Systems Market Share

With everybody acting like Mobile Phones are a PC at times I wanted to see where exactly they stand next to Windows. With Windows 8 coming this month and we could possibly see both Windows and Windows Phones grow it just makes the market that much more interesting.

More interesting with the chart.

Of course Windows still has a huge market, but the percentage of people going online with mobile devices is going to keep growing.

I thought android market share was vastly greater then iOS?

Link says that in the previous quarter, Android had 68% of the global smartphone market share compared to the 17% that Apple owns. I understand that this is a combination of Browser, Search Engine, Device Type, Geographic and Demographic Filter, but, I'm a bit lost? Someone care to explain?

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

Haha thanks for adding the chart.  I must've messed up somehow lol Yes it will continue to grow but PC will still be dominate over mobile devices as they're more capable.  Windows vs MAC is crazy though.  I always assumed that Windows was 90% of computers but I was never for sure either.  Specially seeing as how crazy people are over Apple products now.  I guess Bill Gates really did lead Microsoft into a great future

I'm assuming that this is including Ipads as well as iphones

hmm what do they do if someone is using as examplem an ios or android phone and a windows pc? i mean, does that reduce the windows marketshare even when those people still use a windows pc?

as example let's say 10 years ago i used a windows pc and no smartphone, now i use a smartphone and a windows pc but if someone would make a chart about me, would it be 50% marketshare for both then?

so it may look like windows lost marketshare compared to ten years ago but that doesn't have to mean that less people use a windows pc percentual, people just use more than one device now.

iOS 5.67%
Android 2.00%

This made me happy.

Oh yeah, and I'm pretty sure Deyon is Wanders alt...

And more of those mobile devices will be windows. Windows tablets are going to be huge.

I'd say in 3-5 years Windows Phones will be a pretty big device.  I love my Windows Phone and honestly think it's better than both Androids and Iphones.  It'll need time to grow though and I'd say the same will go to Windows tablets.  Although it's a premium product and has the qualities of being huge it'll have to climb uphill before it becomes a true competitor.  Just look at Bing vs Google.  Bing is now a true competitor to Google but it took time to get where it is.

and btw why is ios almost 3x as big as android with more android devices in peoples hands? does this make sense? maybe i don't understand what the stats are about^^ (or i have no clue how many devices are in peoples hands and i talk crap)
