Just because some entity says it is the best gaming gadget of the year, it doesn't mean it is.

To me it is not.
It still lacks a killer app and a good price point. I'm not dropping 250$ for a portable.

It doesn't have a hook. That's where Sony messes up. "It's just a a PSP with better graphics". That's how most people look at the Vita--if they even know it exists. The 3DS has 3D. That's the hook. The Wii had motion controls, the Wii U has a TV built into the controller, the Xbox has great online, the N64 has a crazy new controller, the GBA is in color, the Dreamcast is thinking. What does Sony do? Improved performance? That's not enough to get people to take the plunge, anymore. Sony just doesn't know what makes the Vita stand out (and there's plenty they could promote) and thus, the product suffers dismal sales.

handhelds are played more by kids than adults, that's why the 3ds is dominating, they make lots of games that appeal to kids. plus it's the same price as a ps3 or 360, so price wise it's not appealing to adults.

I dont' think the high price of the Vita is the main problem. I think even the 3DS could have been a success without price cut if it had big games at launch.

One problem of the Vita: When the people realize that they must buy extremely expensive memory cards for the Vita they feel taken in by sony.

The other problem of the Vita are the games. PS3 like games for a handheld? Really? The games looks much worse than on PS3 and if people want to play games with bombast graphics, they would play it on their PS3/XBox360 anyway. On top of that: The graphics differences to 3DS seems much smaller since the 3DS XL arrived, the big screen made the 3DS graphics looks much better.

And another problem of the Vita is the bad reputation of the Vita and Sony in general. Even in the mainstream media you see articles about "the failure of the Sonys Vita handheld" and you read many articles about the financial problems of Sony. If you want to buy an expensive handheld you sure would like a bright future and many games for it, but this seems a problem with the Vita.

That seems to be the trend nowadays. 

I think its because games are becoming more expensive as the gen goes on. So people are getting selective of what they may want to buy. 

Did you mean the Vita has all the good games for "real" gamer but the people are all to stupid to realize that? This is obviously completely wrong.

The Vita has some good games and even some games of popular franchises, but the Vita has also many disadvantages and many bad games. Look at Little Kings Story, it is a dumbed down version of the clever Wii game. And Vita-Call of Duty graphics looks surely bad.

The Vita already gets the bad third party support the Wii had most of the time. But the Wii got some good third party games at least and it had the strong Nintendo games. The Vita has bad third party support and some first party games that are not that outstanding.

The 3DS has many good games, many bad games and is obviously the better choice for most gamers, the only advantage the Vita has above the 3DS are the better graphics. But this seems not enough for many gamers.

Maybe gaming journalists and reviewers are disconnected with reality and the majority of gamers.
Just saying.

some people waiting for a certain game, some for price drop, and some for both.

and then there are those sad ones with bad eye sight, because handhelds screws up their eyes.

PSvita had good port and bad port like every other console and i don`t know how psvita dosn`t get good 3rd party support PSVita had  call of dutty and assasin creed yes call of dutty vita is a bad game but it will sold better then any other game in PSVita

and why 3DS is better?
