It doesn't have a hook. That's where Sony messes up. "It's just a a PSP with better graphics". That's how most people look at the Vita--if they even know it exists. The 3DS has 3D. That's the hook. The Wii had motion controls, the Wii U has a TV built into the controller, the Xbox has great online, the N64 has a crazy new controller, the GBA is in color, the Dreamcast is thinking. What does Sony do? Improved performance? That's not enough to get people to take the plunge, anymore. Sony just doesn't know what makes the Vita stand out (and there's plenty they could promote) and thus, the product suffers dismal sales.
