Forums - Gaming - RE6: how much do reviews impact sales?...future of the Resident Evil IP.

Played 4 at least half a dozen times. Played and beat 5 once. I dunno.....they lost the magic it seems.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

i heave played all R.E series my favorite is RE0(gamecube) but RE6 is not tooo bad like some editors callet horrible series!!! its much better than RE5 and RE4 ilove new entry JAKE its awesome!! im currentry playing RE6 my vote its 9.5 if people like dead space RE6 its cuad bettet than some facking american ip

reviews always impact sales sadly.

It will have reasonably good sales, but those won't approach RE5 sales. You can't really have a decent game followed by a mediocre one and expect success.

I suppose they'll try to reboot the IP after a while, Devil May Cry style. They won't just let it die. But Capcom's quality franchises are disappearing one by one; just look at what they've done to poor Mega Man.

If I had to put money on one large publisher crashing at some point in the near future, it would be Capcom.

I'm a big Call Of Duty hater mostly because people seem to buy the game just because its the cool thing to do. They also compare every other shooter to COD, and if it doesn't meet their standards its a bad game. Its sad that Capcom has gone the action/shooter route because Activision is beating a dead horse. I think Capcom is scared to release a game as good as Resident Evil 4.

And what I hate to see is great games like Dead Space, Resident Evil, Resistance, and Borderlands sell poorly because all people want is COD.

Yeah I know where you are coming from. Platformers in the 90's early 2000's were based on others. Banjo and Kazooie to Mario, etc. This seems to happen once in a while. Platformers were big back then and now FPS games are...the only difference is they sell a ungoldy amount. not to mention the online...I think FPS games are going to stay hyped up for quite a while.

The thing is there is not gaurantee that they would have bought those games regardless

I think its dead now if sales don't go over Res 5..And they most likely won't.
I think they try reboot soon and fuck it up even more and then they give up and just start totally new zombie series.

Take my love, take my land..

I think bad reviews have a huge effect on sales because most franchises dont have enough "fan boys" to survive on bad reviews. For example I would probably buy any Final Fantasy game no matter what the reviews say because I've been a fan for so long, but if I saw a new game come out that I was excited for but knew nothing about, I would trust the reviews more.

I'm getting my copy tomorrow (I hope). I've never given a crap about reviews. When I was a little boy I bought games based on word of mouth, what the box art looked like, who the developer/publisher was (if the boxart looked good and it said "Capcom", "Squaresoft" or "Konami" it was a guaranteed buy, lol), if I saw someone else play it and liked it, etc.
Nowadays I watch trailers, gameplay videos, play demos, check who the developers are, I still kinda do the "look at boxart" thing and if it looks cool, I go to the internet and investigate to see if I'd like the game or not, I even listen to soundtracks on youtube and sometimes base a buy just on the soundtrack. If I read a review it's because I'm probably going to make a thread to get people hyped about X game and maybe boost it's sales a bit if I think it's going to sell poorly :P.

I don't pay attention to review scores because they're just an average of different scores who have different opinions on the same thing. It doesn't really matter to me if the game gets lots of 3/10 reviews because that's someone else's opinion and MY opinion could be a 10/10... and that's the only opinion that matters at the end of the day. I still haven't bought a game and totally regreted it because it was crap with my method :P (touches wood).

By the way, Operation Raccoon City shipped around 2 million copies, right? I think this one, being a mainline Resident Evil and all that, will ship AT LEAST 4 million LTD.
