Forums - Microsoft - Will Microsoft ever touch their legacy IPs again? Do they even care!?

What about Black and White? I never played, but it sounds interesting. Especially with what you could do with next gen hardware. But could you make that game without Peter Molyneux?

It was pretty interesting. Your creature would randomly take a shit on villagers' heads. The possibilities for Kinect integration are mindblowing.

Do you even want a new Battletoads in the first place? Or are you all too mature (NERDS!) for that now?

Who wouldn't want a game with this chick in it?

There are some rumors in the web about Killer Instinct.

Crimson Skies was a very good game. Almost all of their other IPs I don't really care for but Crimson Skies made me a little jealous.  Enjoyed playing the game a lot on my friend's xbox.

I really think they should let more 'talented' devs take over crackdown...the IP has a lot of potential and MS should bank on it

I'm guessing you're using the wikipedia list for this. It seems odd that Lionhead got to keep the IP for "Black & White" under EA, but didn't get to keep the IP for "The Movies" under Activision. Hmm...

In any case, yes. Black & White is something I'd like to see another one of. They got so close to being fantastic with B&W2, but man, they needed to balance the positive gameplay better. It was too fucking hard to get anything done!

Well, Molyneux isn't even at Lionhead any more, he's too busy starting patent fights with NASA.

Though perhaps that is for the best. Are you sure Lionhead still owns the IP?

B & W, Banjo, Mechassault, Conker. These would be awesome, they own the IPs but do not make them. While Sony does not own Crash, Spyro, and other IPs, and can not make them. Interesting situation for both.

I wouldn't have thought Microsoft do own the IP to Black & White.  That's what it says on Wikipedia, but there's no source, so I have no idea.

I would like to see a new version of it though.  I don't think Molyneux is necessary to its success.  If anything, he held Lionhead back during the later years by constantly talking their work up too much.  Without him in the equation, they can probably just be left to make a good, solid product using their own ideas.  They seem like a very talented team, they've just not really shown that so much on the 360 (although, I've only briefly played Fable 1 & 3, so perhaps they're better than the internet makes them seem).

God damn it. Microsoft owning all these Rare IP's is like owning a sports car with no gas. I would rather see those IP's dead than seeing their reputation being butchered through new- poor versions, but I really think they should re-release all their old epic games for XBLA.

As for the rest of the "not being used" IP's... not one of them really interest me.
