Forums - General - iPhone 5 - It's out today!

Well pretty much what I figured:

what i guessed right:
same look but 4"
better camera
same iOS6
LTE
new iPods (touch same as iPhone4)
no iPad stuff
pricing unchanged

what i guessed wrong:
new itouch has 4"screen
A6 processor in iphone5 (now its virtually identical to Vita specs)
no release of their recently patented game controller for iTV
lack of NFC on new iphone5... seriously wow on that and no mention that bluetooth 4 would be used for similar functionality. Guess Apple just doesn't see the awesomeness in NFC like features.

what i didn't see coming:
iTunes being altered to look like Google Play store (on web)
Siri copying the Google Now cards for sports stuff (that wasn't in original iOS6 presentation)

Overall this is a nice upgrade to the phone. Nothing really new to the mobile space as it was all there on Android and even WP7 (FB and other social integration) already. However, it keeps the truck moving and keeps pressure on Google/OEMS/MS to continue to innovate and bring new shit.

Th....tha...that's it? No iTV? No iPad mini? No NFC chip in iPhone 5? I am disappointed...

I'll still get the iphone5 though, it shall be awesome.

New earpods. Cant be worse than the current garbage the pack in.

this is what good and comfortable headphones look like:

Beats? Can't tell if you're kidding or not.

Actually I picked a random picture after I searched headphones and it happened to be beats.

What headphones would you suggest and rate as good headphones?

Depends completely on what sound you like/music you listen too. Good 'entry level' audiophile cans are things like the Shure 840, Audio Technica M50s, Beyer 770s, Phiaton MS 400, aiaiai Tm1s...V Moda M80s....lots more (havent even listed any Sennheisers) and they're all £100-£200. I'd also recommend getting a little portable amplifier for some of them. But yeh, your random choice of image was unfortunate

They still sell them (see apple's website), but they're just not going to change ever again until they're eventually discontinued long in the future.

It's not really pushing them though. This was all incremental updates based on current tech (and missing some new tech features). I assumed they'd have something new and different to bring to the mobile space but it was all fairly predictable stuff and in some ways was them playing catch up. Even the 4S launch which a number of tech heads thought was disappointing had Siri to show off.

I didn't say any of it was new, in fact I specifically said it wasn't. But its a monster seller and that alone forces the competition to continue to be the innovators and bring the new shit.
