I want just reading these threads on gamespot...

http://uk.gamespot.com/forums/topic/29280845/xbox-360-you-fear-it-and-you-know-it

http://uk.gamespot.com/forums/topic/29281014/who-are-the-most....

...and I realised that if these threads were made on VGChartz they would be locked immediately. I don't like this. This is a system wars site, and I think threads like this should be allowed because they are completely harmless except to fanboys who can't accept criticism about their preferred company. Also, they provide funny and sometimes interesting responses. Most importantly though, they encourage people to stop lurking and actually post because they are topics that people are passionate about.

The first thread seems tongue-in-cheek enough to pass master (similar to that "Why LIVE is blatantly better than PSN" that we had a while back). The second one we had a version of that was indeed locked, but that's because a thread like that will inevitably get personal.

As a social experiment, would it be okay for me to post the first thread here on vgchartz? It would be interesting to see the response from the community and you would see lots of lurkers and old posters come out of nowhere and start discussing stuff again because it is a topic that everyone is passionate about. That's my hypothesis, anyway. Also, I'm betting it would get over 200 posts too.

Stop trying to make threads that will become epic. It doesn't work that way.

The thread becomes epic if it is good. This is very rare for a thread that is trying to be epic.

EDIT: Also, that type of thread really needs to be pulled off well to work. RolStoppable can do it. Very few others can. The Gamespot version is abysmal, and I have no desire to try and make this forum more like what is widely accepted as one of the worst forums on the internet.

No, that's not right. Rolstoppable is the only user who can do it becuase he is the only user who wouldn't get banned if he did it. If I or anyone else made a similar thread then we'd be banned. Anyone can write an awesome thread, but very few can get away with it. Oh yeah, and I agree about gamespot being a shithole, but that's more due to the layout rather than the content.

RolStoppable is the only user who can do it because he can pull it off. He does it with perfect spelling and grammar (unlike that guy) and makes every effort to make it seem sincere. There are still people who fall for it. Nobody is going to fall for that piece of crap Gamespot thread. Or perhaps everybody will, considering the intelligence of the average Gamespot forum poster.

You can make an epic thread that folows the rules. You just have to think of a good enough idea. Don't use old and tired methods that no one cares about anymore.

Is it OK if I say
"Nigger please" it is not a racist statement obviously.

I've posted "Ma nigga" and wasn't moderated so I assume so.

Sup Ma Nigga!

I like mods on this site. Other than one of them because we do not agree with one damned thing in life.

@Man bear

What kantor says is true. you cannot make an epic thread. I tried with the "Why is the user above you a slut thread", but it was not able to compete with the Hate thread that was locked......then post in after it was locked, then made a rule banning posting in locked threads.

Come back AMP and Barozi!

Any thread with 'user above you' in the title is automatically shit. It seems you have a different definition of what an epic thread is than everyone else...

MBP should listen to you, since you did actually create something resembling an epic thread with the one about the impending fight.

What the hell has this thread become...I don't make threads so that they'll be 'epic', I make them because they'll make me laugh.

Like this one I made yesterday.

I'm not trying to be the new Jay520, RolStoppable or FattyDingDong, I just make threads that'll entertain me. Anyway, why the hell are we even discussing this? I never even said I wanted to create an 'epic' thread...

You did start this topic of discussion, but you're right, let's drop it.

They are doing fine, so far. But if anyone of them ban me (like seriously, why would you anyway?! ) then the compliments are going in the trash!

But to be serious, overall it's fine, some of the new mods seem to not do much/they just edit posts, then again, I don't know if a warning was given with the edit.

I'll just finish by reminding you that I am the creator of the best thread in vgchartz history:

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=143212

I made it when me and spurge swapped accounts, so all posts in the thread by him are actually by me and all posts by me in the thread are actually by him.

I think you're doing great! Can't really think of anything to complain about (things that you actually have any control over that is, the disappearance of all posts when banned is painfully annoying...).
The new mods are all doing well, especially when you consider that they haven't been mods for a very long time yet. I'm almost disappointed by the lack of power abuse we've seen so far.
