Well...fuck. Stealth links. Damn it, spurge, you're on your own!

See, I left them in there and everything.

Also, showing how to play games for free is against the rules.  It's rule 12, I believe.  I plan on erasing the entire post when he's unbanned but left it unerased for now so if my higher ups want to review it that they can.

I think Spurge wanted to get banned for whatever reason.

Rule 12 only mentions links or requests for free games. His post had a link, so I'm not complaining, but I don't think he should've been banned if his post didn't contain links to ROMS. I mean, then you'd have to ban everyone talking about pirated PC games on this site as well

Well, I'm not saying anything like that, but leaving an exhaustive step by step instruction manual of how to pirate is a little different then just saying that you pirate games, don't you think?

Debatable, since the steps were/are really just common sense. The step by step instructions were mostly about the emulator though, there are ROMs that are not "pirated" so if the instructions hadn't mentioned that link I don't see what is bannable about that.

That's true.  I honestly probably wouldn't have banned him if he didn't leave that link.

I'm not 100% sure about it but I've heard conflicting things on the internet about whether they are legal or not if you rip them from your own cartridge, but I still think that it is considered illegal to make yourself a "backup copy".

If you want my feedback, 3 days for spurge is too long.

I don't remember him posting links to ROMs before, so there is no prior infraction. I'm not sure he got a warning for this. And lastly this has nothing to do with the ban 2 days ago.

My 2 cents.

Edit: Just wanted you guys to know that the team considered the feedback and adjusted Spurge's ban. Good for you team.

spurgeonryan: Post in the kantor thread and say that I most assuradly did not want to get banned. If I wanted that I would have come back from my last ban and acted like a deuche bag.

He tells me he didn't even read the news he was posting >_>. So indeed 3 days was way too harsh imo. Especially since this offense was not related to the other recent one, and according to the rules that's how the progressive banning works.

If anything, his ban should be lengthened then. Posting news that he hadn't even read (or even known what the article was about, lol) is complete and utter spamming.

Spam is judged on content and frequency, not on intent. That's how I understand it.

Geez why do you want the guy banned so much.

Some of the new mods are a wee bit trigger happy. But that may be the power trip syndrome that many get when they first acquire a position of power...

Besides, amp already reduced it to a 1 day ban.

So what's your point?

Pezus said that 3 days was too harsh...then I said that amp had already reduced it to a 1 day ban.

What's your point?
