I dont see why that thread was locked. Sales comparison/ prediction. We have countless threads bumped from old sales predictions and expectations, look at BHR-3s thread history.

Thats just me though. -shrugs-

So every prediction thread will get locked if it is bumped after a few years?  Even if by that time we have the actual data and can look back at what we or other people thought?  As long as the tread isnt harming anybody, I see no reason why it should be locked...

I'm not really sure what else there is to say. The thread is like 5/6 years old, and had no posts in that time. The bump was not topical, it has no relevance to nothing we were talking about in the forums at all, and it wasn't bumped in an intelligent fashion.

If the OP had brought it up, saying "so as people were talking about ___ recently, how about we look back at these predictions to see what people thought before and what the reality is now?", then that would be a different matter. Bumping a 6 year old thread with no grounds, no reasoning and which has no relevance is nothing more than spam and isn't needed. And if it was an important thread, people would have brought it up sooner wouldn't you think? So locking it is no loss.

This has happened several times before and it will certainly happen again. Trucks' comment sums it up best really.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Everything you said is a possible reason for moderating the post that bumped the thread as spam, but doesnt seem like a good reason to lock the thread.  There was obviously some interest in the thread after it was bumped, because it had quite a few comments after it was bumped.  So yes, there was a loss.  Also, why would the op be the only one capable of reviving the thread?

Trucks post says the thread was locked because it was from 2009.  Ok, there are lots of threads from 2009 that arent locked.  That isnt a reason to lock a thread, or at least it shouldnt be.  Locking a thread should be reserved for threads that have gone out of control, not because an old thread was bumped.  Even if it isnt relevent today, as long as the thread is benign there is no reason to lock it...

I would like permission to call an other user an idiot, based on the following issue : drawing a premature conclusion on one weeks data, while its a much more logical thing to include the data of the following weeks.
Secondly generalising an whole userbase on the reactions of a couple of users.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Someone was banned earlier today for calling another user an idiot. So, I'm afraid not today (regardless of the situation as you describe)

Yeah it's a bit annoying that users are being moderated for bumping threads. I don't see why it's such a big deal.

I second this, not to mention it comes off as kind of elitist...
