Can PS3 or XBox 360 sell 10 million consoles in 2012?

Yes for PS3 only. 37 33.33%

Yes for both PS3 and XBox 360. 47 42.34%

Yes for XBox 360 only. 9 8.11%

No for both systems. Close but no cigar! 18 16.22%

Total:111

PS3 has sold around 5 million and must sell 5 million more systems in order to reach 10 million sales target for 2012.

XBox 360 has sold around 4 million and must sell 6 million more systems in order to reach 10 million sales target for 2012.

7 and a half months sales have generated console sales well down on 2011 and 2010  sales years. Wii U arrives late 2012 and it is expected to take sales away from the aging PS3 and XBox 360.

PS3 will most likely end up with over 10 million units sold for 2012, especially with the upcoming $179 PS3 slim model that leaked a month or so ago..

Between October 1st and December 31st it isn't unusual for a system to sell 40% to 50% of their yearly total; and so it is likely that both systems will break 10 million.

With the Wii U and the 3DS leeching sales? It would kind of surprise me. Granted, Shooter Season is upcoming, which means 360 sales will see a significant flair, and Microsoft virtually gives them away at Christmas with $50 rebates.

If the PS3 gets a price cut, however, and they go all out on the marketing of that price cut, then I think it has a very good shot.

In summary, I don't know, but I think it will be close either way.

I think PS3 will almost certainly will. It's tracking lower than last year (is it 20% lower), but not low enough. Also, if the newer models for PS3 are real (looks likely), then I think it will push 12 millions for 2012.

XBOX 360, on the other hand, I don't think so. It's tracking much lower than last year, and it had an enormous holiday season in US (I think biggest BF week ever), which will be extremely difficult to beat. In addition, it doesn't seem likely that Microsoft will cut the price of the console. So, I think it'll do 9 million, but 10 million is not out of reach.

They'll both be able to pull it off. I don't think Microsoft will be able to next year though and I think next year will be the PS3's last.

They both will. The 360 is a holiday beast and will more than make up any lost ground with Halo 4 and COD.

With Halo 4 and Black Ops II, I think 360 could sell almost one million units per week between mid-November and January 1, 2013. And with Black Ops II and a price cut, I think PS3 could sell about 700,000 units per week during that same timeframe.

Unlike you guys, I think Wii U will flop this holiday season, and will barely put any dent in PS360's sales. Wii U's launch lineup relies too heavily on third party titles, none of which will sell anywhere near as well on that console (most notably Assassin's Creed III and Arkham City).

They will both sell over 10 million each....easily

I'm buying the new Halo 4 special edition even though I have a sturdy old white Pro 360. That's one sale for Xbox 360. I wonder how many of the millions of Halo fans will do the same? I skipped the Halo 3 special edition because I thought it was ugly and I skipped the Halo Reach special edition because it was just a spin off. There is no way I'm going to let a nice quite slim Xbox 360 with such an awesome semi-transparent Halo 4 case slip by.
