It’s safe to assume that Nintendo will be bringing an all-new 3D Super Mario title to their forthcoming console. According to a new rumor, a “trusted source” claims that a 3D Mario game for Wii U is currently in development. The 2D side-scrolling New Super Mario Bros. U is scheduled to launch this year and, supposedly, Mario’s 3D outing will be released sometime during 2013.

This is a no-brainer for Nintendo. Every Nintendo console has a 3D Mario since N64. I hope they announce it this coming Sept 13 or GDC 2013 or next years E3.

With NSMBU they do seem to be trying harder on the art, at least.

2013 sounds a bit early to me. They finished Mario 3D Land in late 2011 so (assuming it is developed by the same team as the last three 3D Mario games) that would only give them 2 years to develop this game. I'm thinking 2014... but hey I won't complain
