Shocking. Next we'll learn Nintendo is working on a Zelda game for WiiU.

Nah, not likely. They usually only work on one major title for a console at once.

different teams. or sarcasm?

As far as the mainline 1st pure first party developed games go. I've never seen them release within 3 months of each other. You may get something like Mario Sports or Fling Smash, but a full fledged Mario Game full fledged Zelda generally do not come out in the same year.

I was being sarcastic but I'm 100% sure there's a WiiU Zelda game at some stage of development even now  - although I agree it won't launch in the same year as a 3D Mario.

I feel like there needs to be a 'not' in the title for this to be article-worthy. But many other people have pointed out the sarcasm, so I'll leave it there.

Anyway, great. Once this hits, along with Pikmin 3 already being out by then, I think will be enough incentive for me to invest!

This is like confirming for us that the sun will rise tomorrow morning.

While obvious, any news (or rumors) gets me excited for Mario's next 3D adventure in glorious HD! SMG1 and SMG2 are such masterpieces, and they have set the bar high for the next installments of the series. I must confess though I would've preferred this to come out before NSMBU which could come out as close as 3 months from NSMB2. A late 2013 launch (at earliest) for this however, would mean it's 3.5 years from the last 3D Mario (SMG2), and 2 years if you count SM3DL.

Can use the keyboard and/or a normal controller ;o

Now that you mentioned that, can you use the keyboard and mouse for games that used the wii motion plus, like Skyward Sword?

A more significant question is whether this next 3d Mario takes the rout of Galaxy 1 (more exploration, more imaginative worlds, not totally linear) or the route of Galaxy 2(less exploration, "back to earth" plain worlds, and very very linear).

Considering that they are launching with a fully 2d Mario title, they have less need to create a Galaxy 2 type game that tries to win over "2d fans." They could even go back to something like Mario 64.

Wow, 2013 is fairly soon considering we're getting a Mario game this year. But hey, it worked for 3DS (although in reverse).

Nintendo's not screwing around with establishing that WiiU install base.
