It happens to me. Only in very specific threads though.
I believe it has to do with specific users graphics.
For example it seems to happen to me in every thread Spaceguy has posted in for example.
Not happening to me on this thread though.

The site as much as I like it has a bunch of small problems. Like with me I can't quote, or reply. Everytime it loads the page to type the message I want to post, none of the buttons, like to bold words, add a picture etc. work.

Doubt (or hoping) that it isn't anything serious, but I get the same website asking for access so I'm assuming its linked to the site in some way. Also, I'm using a different browser to you, so its not exclusive to firefox.
This is the usual browser-dialog for sites that requires authentication via HTTP-Auth (that's part of the HTTP-protocol). It doesn't come from VGChartz, as this site uses normal forms to login and authenticate. But you can include other content (like images) from different servers, the browser ask this server for the referenced data. So I think it's either an ad or an image in the thread or some signature. Probably the image was free earlier and got restricted after some time and now needs some sort of authentication to view.

Thanks for the hint of the thread. It is the following image:
