Forums - Sony - Sony scales back expectations for Vita after weak sales performanc

It honestly has nothing that appeals to someone who wants a handheld. Sure Uncharted is a great game, but it's not a game that the "mainstream" want on their handheld. And I mean by mainstream not as casual gamers, but even the hardcore. Honestly I don't see the appeal of an expensive Vita when I have a PS3.

This of course may change, but definitely needs games, and more specifically, handheld games. Problem is that bar the MH success on the PSP in Japan, nothing has been released on the PSP has had close to that appeal. Sony need to dig deep on this one

LBP is better suited for handheld the same for Escape Plan,Sound Shape,Superstardust,Little Deviants , Hustle King, Souil Sacrifice and Gravity Rush

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

It may have a few of those, but it doesn't have tha t "Must Have" game that everyone wants. I'm just explaining why sales are poor.

AKB48 will save Vita... December 20th, believe!

Hatsune Miku and AKB48 to be vita's biggest games of the year? Seriously, if that happens, it'll be funny as hell! The hardcorest of the hardcorest of systems being sustained by girl games in japan (not for girls, but you get the point) is a hilarious thought! But probably won't happen, since it's being released on PSP too, and that will steal most (or at least a lot) of its sales.

That said, it was a good game for Vita to get!

I don't get what would be degrading about this game pushing the Vita, instead, it makes perfect sense to me. I mean, if someone thinks this game doesn't deserve to have attention, I am fine with that, I understand, but it is games that don't deserve attention that sell, like crappy movies in Hollywood. The proof: the Vita is behind the competition.

The PSP may hurt the Vita sells though, but you don't understimate the fans of these groups in experiencing this game in the best possible quality. I gotta check if there are some special features that the PSP version doesn't have, if there's such a thing.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

A game that forces the user to reject 152 "schoolgirls" is going to save the Vita.

I wouldn't mind replaying it one hundred and fifty two times as long as I get to front-and-back-touch them all.

It'll reach 100x more perverts than the 3DS AKB48 game. I mean, I know there's probably some guys out there that find the whole Mii look hot, but it can't be that many - I'm afraid to search Mii Porn tough.

It'll sell very well, just because of that it's a commendable addition to Vita's library. The bad side is that it's multiplat - and unlike Hatsune Miku multiplat same-day release.

But it's not the problem of Sony if they don't see them a must have .

It's not the Sony problem if people buy much more console like games in PSP and Vita then unique new ip whi is better suited to handheld.

PSP/Vita shipments:

Q4 (Jan - Mar) shipments .9

Q1 (Apr - June) shipments 1.4  Im sure that the 500k increase in shipments is not all PSP.

The loss for the PS3 was profound we could tell immedieatly that the system was selling at a huge loss.  The PSVita, not so much.  we have had 3 quarters of Sony's game numbers and there is no extreme drop off in sales or profits (losses) outside normal seasonal trends.

The Q4 shipments can't be right. Even if we assume 0 shipments for Japan, this would mean only 450k units each for America and Europe.

I've argued with you a few times about Vita's profitability. All the evidence I find, in the worst case scenario, Vita is selling wifi at a loss and 3G at a profit. But it could very well be that wifi is break even or both are selling at a small profit. We've gone through the manufacturing and retail numbers and it supports this. You can't use this information and pin it on Vita, to be honest Vita isn't selling enough to incorporate these level of losses. In addition, Sony said in their quarterly release that part of the reason they did not post higher reveneus was because of lower than expected sales of the Vita, indicating that they are indeed making some profit on the system and overspent this quarter because of their higher expectation of sales.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
