I think it'll have a stronger, more consistent library, and it'll keep the fanbase hooked for longer. But it won't sell nearly as well as Wii, I think it'll do half of what Wii will do.

I think it will do twice what the PS4 and Durango combined will do, though.

hahaha I highly doubt that. Anything can happen though.

It was that Way with the Wii and its getting a head start by a least a year.  I remember that you couldn't find a Wii on a shelf for like the first 2 years after its release. It would be interesting if that happens again.

There were other major factors that lead to the Wiis success that aren't factors of the Wii U. The Gamepad isn't what the Wiimote is, it's not as fresh and it won't attract the hordes of casuals the Wii attracted. The Wii had a clear focus and a clear target market, the Wii U doesn't. And the biggest of the big three at the time fucked up the start of last gen.

The head start will help, but I think the sales will slow right down as soon as Orbis and Durango are out the gate in 2013.

Keep gamers interested is completely bias, I know a lot of people who were more than satisfied with the Wii library, but I agree that the Wii U will not sell as much as the Wii, my guess is that it will sell like the 360 and PS3

This is trashy news. That is all objective. I have a PS3, 360 and Wii. I've had them for years. The Wii has kept my interested the longest followed by small use of the PS3 when ever a forced exslusive comes out on it, and I haven't hooked up my 360 in over a year.

They should rename the article "Will the Wii U be able to keep our interest here at Slashgear" to which the answer would be no as they obviously don't like the system or the company that produces it.

I did not post it as news. You cannot honestly say that the Wii kept you busy more than the 3-4 big games a week that the HD systems got could have done. Still on a regular basis they are pushing out new games, and the Wii for the past two years has got next to zilch.  I have enjoyed the Wii as well, but it has not been since the SNES days that I have not had periods of boredom with my Nintendo consoles. The N64 had the same problem. Months upon months of waiting for the next good game to come out. The Wii had games, but no one wanted to play hardly any of them. They should almost go back to the four game a year rule and stick to it. Quality control is better than wasting money sifting through the shovelware that was on the Wii. The GC had decent games, but they were mostly ports. The ones that were not ports were few and far between as well. I am not sure where you are coming from. Like I said I have enjoyed the Wii as well, but Nintendo has to keep the games coming this time around. Even 2010 was a little scarce, besides the holiday season.

LOL 3-4 big games a week?

that ould mean there would need to be approx 150-200 big games released a year to keep you that busy. no console has that many interesting games a year.

N64 i enjoed a lot, so clearly it is your personal taste. Never had issue will supply of games demand.

Agree about sholvelware on Wii. Howver blame that on third paties. Sine N64 era they complained about Nintendo having too strict rules on quality acceptance hence why they never bothered making games for their system. So they loosed them up and Wii got showelware

Also agree about 4 big games a year. Again third party fault. They complained their games cannot compete with Nintendo, so they left them windows open for their games to suceed, but they never come. I really hope next gen they jsut finish developing games. Then tal to other 3rd party devs. If they have nothing planned in that qtr, then release their 1st party game to keep the users interested.

Don Reisinger does nothing but hate on Nintendo. He writes for CNET and I can't think of a single article he's ever written with Nintendo in it that didn't berate the hell out of them.

I remember him posting about record breaking sales and record breaking profits and he'd still find a way to make it a negative article.

It is authors like him in a journalistic position of power that perpetuate bias and nonsense that makes me hate the every industry I work in.

It seems Nintendo is trying to please their core base while trying to retain the casual crowd. No one knows how this will turn out. You can be sure that Nintendo fans will have plenty of great Nintendo games as always though. 3rd parties... we'll see if they do anything else beyond porting PS360 games. At least until PS4/X720 launch it will have some core support.

I'm still unsure of this asymmetric gameplay Nintendo is pushing, that's the biggest gamble for me, especially when it comes to casual gamers.

Anyway, next gen will be very interesting. This the first time where 3 competitors have been so close in a gen, so next gen there are no clear favourites.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

The Wii kept me interested for 5 years. There are still some games I want to play like Skyward Sword and Xenoblade.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Well, that depends on whether or not Nintendo abandons it late in its life as they did the Wii, but I don't think that will happen this time. I certainly think it has a shot at doing very, very well.

Nintendo hasn't enjoyed a head start with a home console since the NES. That, in addition to its stellar first party IPs, the affordable launch price, and what the new controller offers could make it the victor of the 8th generation.

What the Hell did this say? Censorship is bullshit. Or was this the original post and Caravello is just trying to be funny?

He called you and other Nintendo fans a bunch of fanboys.  Would you have rather that I left this in your thread?

Wouldn't that call for more of a Ban?

Anywho...
