"Please tell me how a 3D functionality (which the minority even uses) is more innovative than a back and front touch screen. You can be in denial all you want, but there is nothing particularly innovative about the 3DS in itself."

show me some data or article related to that minor use of the 3D you are refering, i guess you are making an assumption on that to support your point...whatever it is...

back touch is barely used by any game.....front touch screen? come on, you are losing powers my friend
xD

There is no data except feedback from this very forum. Most people appear to turn it off, at least the biggest gamers here I see. And that is besides the point. 3D is not innovative in any way. Even PS3 does 3D.

Can any other platform do 3D with no glasses? I don't think so.

P.S. i agree that 3D isn't innovative but you have to cover every apparent flaw in your argument.

What does that mean?

Sorry, stupid auto-correct. Read the edited post.

3D with no glasses is still 3D though...I see no problem with wearing glasses with my 3D (especially if it makes it better).

Not sure what that favorite sentence is supposed to mean. Products can serve the same purpose as past products, but can be considered innovative if they do so in a more convenient/efficient manner. Since many people consider glasses to be annoying, the 3DS can be considered innovative because it accomplishes a task (3D) more conveniently than before. ( No Glasses)

Is that still autocorrect at work? I'm guessing it is supposed to say "first".

Alright, I'll give you that not having to wear glasses is a minor innovation for handhelds lol. I personally would not call it innovation though, because the 3D is worse than 3D with glasses and it is all to be able to do something different just for the sake of it (improved or not).

Seriously, it's not.

(personal experience) - it blurs a lot less in action sequences. A lot!

(technical point) It does not darks the image. And has degrees too.

It has a very specific viewing angle though. I do not see any blur in today's 3D technology either. And the image darkening is negligible. Also it seems to give headaches after a short while, a problem I have not noticed with glasses for a while.

To me only the viewing angle is a problem, but you soon get used to fit your eyes in it - especially if you don't go all out on the 3D slider. The rest, I consider everything far superior. Darkening is not negligible, imo, colors become much more bland and lifeless. And the blurring sometimes gets critical. I watched Hugo Cabret and it worked most of the time great - since there's a lot of quiet scenes (with lots and lots of first-plane gears for you to admire). But Tintin (last action 3D movie I saw - no more of that for me thanks) sometimes gets so frantic that my eyes can't catch up and the 3D image melts like butter. And yet, Kid Icarus on the maximum 3D degree on difficult 9 works great.

Anyway, the point is. It's not superior. Maybe to you, but to me and others, it's not. And is innovative. Even today, if you show your 3DS to people they get amazed.

You could do some research yourself. I don't even know of a game that doesn't use the back screen in some form."

1. Wrong, most 3DS gamers say the dont use it at full power

2. I think, by the articles i read about it, that the game that uses the back touch panel the most/best is FIFA soccer....enough said.....its an irrelevant feature and a gimmick (that doesnt even work as a gimmick)
but its innovative, ill give you that....

3D is not innovative by itself
a glasses free 3D handheld is innovative, or at least unique

Allo.

THis, I thought i was the only one. Glasses>no glasses.  I find the 3D glasses gives you a more immersive felling. I prefer the pop out of the screen effect more than the depth window effect. Thats not me taking a jab at  3DS i have the damn thing and i enjoy it, but i find myself rarely using the 3D feature, and this is coming from the guy who thought the 3D would do for the 3DS what motion controls and touch screen did for Wii and DS respectively

DS – 648,641

360 – 1,720,000
PS3 – 1,379,200
Wii – 812,800
3DS – 1,051,741

Vita – 638,400

Yikes. Cue the "Vita needs LBP, AC, CoD, etc etc etc" comments.

I'll keep repeating my comment "Vita needs a price drop".

The 3DS needs software just as badly as Vita does. For the 2nd year straight, Nintendo is relying on a Mario to keep sales above 'subpar', while bringing nothing else of value over from Japan or by releasing timed-exclusive games for the West. Nintendo of America has been absolutely terrible for going on 3 years. To be honest, even if Japan's major hits would not sell more than 250k here, that is still ~250k Nintendo is not making profit from.

I personally haven't purchased a 3DS and do not plan on it because of this. Their strategy just screams tired.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

the less the sales are the fewer games they will come from JAPAN
its a deadly spiral
its always been like that
its users fault
Nintendo only brings to the west games that are going to sell, theres no enough demand for those games nop matter how good they are
its a bussines decission, and you cant blame Ninty for that, but users that dont buy Japanese games
