keep telling yourself that

Hey, if you guys get to twist things around to make Sony look like the devil, glorifying a paltry 2 million difference in global sales, I'll gladly pick and chose what I believe as well.  Puts us on the same level.

Either way, PS3 WILL end up higher than the 360 by the time it's all said and done.  Even if not by the time the next gen starts, we all know Sony will continue to sell the damn things years into the PS4's lifecycle.

that is what you are doing

Okay, so since you insist on sucking at debate, here is some math to back up my claim:

The Xbox 360 was released in November 2005, whereas the PS3 was released in November 2006.  that means the Xbox 360 has been around for 81 months if you round up.  the PS3 has been on the market for 69 months if you round up.

81 months for the 360

69 months for the PS3

The Xbox 360 has sold, according to the numbers we have here, 67.55 million units.  the PS3 has sold, according to the numbers we have here, 65.63 million units.

67.55 million for the 360

56.63 million for the PS3

Okay, so divide the amount sold by the number of months on the market, and we get:

360:  67.55 million / 81 months = 0.834 million units sold per month on average

PS3:  65.63 million / 69 months = 0.951 million units sold per month on average

THat means (theoretically) that if the systems were released at the same time with the same sales patterns and buying rates, the PS3 would regularly outsell the 360.  the only reason the 360 is ahead of the PS3 is becuase it had a year's head start.  For comparison's sake:

If the PS3 had sold at its rate but the 360's lifetime:

0.951/month x 81 months = 77.031 million sold

If the 360 had sold at its rate but the PS3's lifetime:

0.834/month x 69 = 57.456 million to date

Isn't math fun?  and that's not even factoring in how many people bought multiple Xbox 360's becuase of the Red Ring of Death happening after warranty or before they knew they could get a replacement.  I'd say (and this is pure estimate since nobody has these numbers), at least 5 million 360's compared to what I figure is probably over 1 million for the Yellow Light of Death on PS3's.  That's taking console failure rates into account.

so yeah, isn't math awesome?  I'm not twisting any numbers here, check them out, do the math yourself.  all the data is right there.

So yeah, it's not over till it's over.  Funny how things changed.  Man, I can't WAIT to laugh at all the sniveling Xbots who declared the PS3 a monumental failure when the generation fully ends and the 360 ends up in last.

Funny thing is, I love my Xbox 360, I really do...but I hate its fans.

You're a writer for this site and you post garbage like that?  Anyone wondering why there aren't many Xbox fans on this site, well there's a good example as to why.

Still bitching about 360 fans? you can always leave and go to xboxmagazine site, i think there are no " evil " ps3 fans ...

simple as that , problem solved !!!

edited my me : BTW , why do a large amount of 360 "fans " spend more time in sony part of the forum than in microsoft part of the forum ?

You should know the answer to that since 2007.

You're making too much sense man. :/

I'm waiting for the inevitable ad hominem attack..."You're a sony fanboy, your argument is invalid" or "VGchartz can't be trusted, your calculations are off".  Even if I'm off by a month or a few decimels, the numbers won't be much different...at least not enough to matter.  The point still remains:  the PS3 is only 2 million behind the 360, and it did it with less time on the market.  While I expect this year to edge towards the 360 (it's getting a Halo 4 bundle), the PS3 has been regularly outselling it and easily has two years of cheap sales more than the 360 will.  that's just how Sony's plan works, they've even SAID they plan on keeping the PS3 around long after the next gen starts.  I don't blame them.

but that's wrong,go check the MS discussion

of course you can just say you guys don't allow any non-sony fan get in Sony discussion anymore, don't worry,Sony fans in VGC is a lot more than MS/Nintendo fans, they will support you, right?go look up,they have so much time to stay here and keep F5ing,not play some games

Someone should make some charts comparing Xbox vs PS2, Xbox + Gamecube vs PS2, Xbox360 vs PS3, Xbox360 + Will vs PS3 to understand just how much things have changed this generation and why a thread like this would have been considered laughable last generation. Not only that but the PS3 still requires PS2 numbers added to it to even make it over 1 million.

There arent as many Xbox fans on the site, because there aren't as many Xbox fans as Sony/Nintendo.. Its simple.

Seece pretty much co-run the forums with Machina when he was here, that didnt exactly help the Xbox fans grow in number.

Why would that be detrimental to the Xbox community? If anything, having an Xbox fan co-run the site would be good for the Xbox community.

Many people believe PS2 to have sold around 1-1.1m, that still leaves PS3 selling as much as Wii60. Not only that, but that also leaves PS2, a 12 year old console selling as much as the 360.
