That said, 3DS also needs an spectacular show

I don't know if this is strategy or not, but for next year, there's practically nothing so far, except Monster Hunter 4 (big except, but even then).

Nintendo literally fired all cannons this year!

Your post made me actually check the release dates and you're worryingly right. All the big to semi-big games for the 3DS except MH are due this holiday in Japan (Layton vs. Wright, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion, Paper Mario). Nintendo would be wise to push one or two of these to next year, especially given that Mario and XL can easily rule the holidays without much help.

Although, PSP pretty much had some of its best years surviving on nothing but Monster Hunter. It would have barely broken 15m LT without MH. With that kind of system-selling power, 3DS could still be fine.

Well, some nice sales all around, 3DS did great (boost all around, especially for the Trinity), PSP Legend of Heroes did well, Persona also, Wii improved till it's big week next week

ALL except Vita with nothing even in the top 30!!! In the pac-man graph it's name does not even fit anymore! This month until Hatsune Miku is going to be tragic... I mean, how much can Orgarhythm hold up a system?

Answer: not much.

Is that Legend of Heroes the sequel to Trails in the Sky?

I have yet to play Trails but I have heard nothing but good things.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

As for the numbers, 3DS is doing great in Japan right now and I am sad when I see Vita numbers.

Vita really is a great peice of tech and it is a shame to see it doing so poorly. However, as long as I continue to get games I will be content. Well, as long as those games are RPGs.

I think Layton vs Wright will be 2013 (first year without layton since 2008 :( ) and Shin Megami Tensei is probably next year too. Tomodatchi collection is this year (even in Nintendo schedule) but we have next to nothing for it so far. This TGS is going to be epic for this, both systems need a lot of software!

And then there's the Japanese Wii U launch and future, I think they promised to say more about the future in it too!

I really don't know that, not much into the series. But it's terrible that's on PSP because it looks gorgeous! I saw this on andriansang some time ago and it really impressed me:

They announced that the series will move to the 3DS some time ago, I really hope this is the game.

From what I just read (As best I could, lol) it seems this game is completely unrelated to the Trails in the Sky series.

Trails 2 is supposedly taking a while because they say it is 2x as large as the first, which is CRAZY!

Like you though I am not into the series. To be honest I didn't follow Falcom much at all until XSEED started localizing their games and I took a chance on Ys 7.

I enjoyed the hell out of that game so I am going to try TiTS next.

I'm almost positive that Nintendo (and third parties) have games lined up for next year. They just haven't revealed them yet. This is actually where it gets interesting -- having released many of the essentials its first two years, next year we reach for what's left. Kirby? Mario & Luigi? Mario vs DK? Another Resident Evil, maybe? Dare I say -- Zelda? And what about the biggest hitter of all big hitters: Pokémon? I think GameFreak could definitely aim for Holiday 2013 for Japan.

This is without hoping that Nintendo has something amazing up their sleeve, like a new Donkey Kong Country, Star Fox, F-Zero, Metroid, Advance Wars... There are games coming out in 2013, we just don't know any of them yet!

3DS bombed hard. Barely made 15%.

I really enjoy your humour.

@Kowen I knew you wouldn't hold it this time :)

OT: Pac-Man 'nuff said.

  • (2006) The Legend of Heroes: Sora no Kiseki Second Chapter (SC)
  • (2007) The Legend of Heroes: Sora no Kiseki The 3rd

I think it's the same series (Kiseki), but not a sequel (same characters and world). But I checked some videos of Trails in the Sky and you're right, it looks pretty good, especially for an early PSP game. But if the other two never left japan, this one has no chance, being on PSP. What we can hope now is either this 3DS game or the Remake that's coming for Vita (or the new game being for Vita too)

Isn't the new Layton in the works already? I think it's coming out next year! Besides third parties are on fire w system! ;D
