That said, 3DS also needs an spectacular show

I don't know if this is strategy or not, but for next year, there's practically nothing so far, except Monster Hunter 4 (big except, but even then).

Nintendo literally fired all cannons this year!

Your post made me actually check the release dates and you're worryingly right. All the big to semi-big games for the 3DS except MH are due this holiday in Japan (Layton vs. Wright, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion, Paper Mario). Nintendo would be wise to push one or two of these to next year, especially given that Mario and XL can easily rule the holidays without much help.

I'm almost positive that Nintendo (and third parties) have games lined up for next year. They just haven't revealed them yet. This is actually where it gets interesting -- having released many of the essentials its first two years, next year we reach for what's left. Kirby? Mario & Luigi? Mario vs DK? Another Resident Evil, maybe? Dare I say -- Zelda? And what about the biggest hitter of all big hitters: Pokémon? I think GameFreak could definitely aim for Holiday 2013 for Japan.

This is without hoping that Nintendo has something amazing up their sleeve, like a new Donkey Kong Country, Star Fox, F-Zero, Metroid, Advance Wars... There are games coming out in 2013, we just don't know any of them yet!
