3DS did well, but that's not surprising.
I'm more interested in Wii > Vita by Famitsu, :D! Could Wii briefly take second place next week?

Well with Kirby, JD and DQX, and mediocre sales from PS3/PSV/PSP (18k is ok for PS3 but really nothing special), then if it doesn't take second place next week, it will be an utter disappointment!

18k for Wii next week will be good. Don't expect a high jump on hardware. Software on the other hand...

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

With Kirby, then Just Dance 2, then Dragon Quest X hitting one a week in a row, the Wii might have something of a renaissance is Japan for a month or so.

Brain Age is clearly a case of Duck Hunt/Tetris/Nintendogs

It had its time and place. That said, this is good numbers for that type of game. I mean, most of them probably don't reach 1k

I don't see how you can say that yet with only 2 days of sales.

Even with only two days of sales, it's obviously only a fraction of NSMB2.

Obviously, it's type of game that has a low debut but continues to sell consistently.

Brain Age 2 had a first week of over 400k. Unless this really is a groundbreaking game that redefines the series, I don't see it as another Brain Age. I still think Nintendo desperately needs one of those! Still buggles me that they haven't done something new!

That game was released right during the holiday season, and only a few months after the first one, so the base was already there. Not the case with Oni Training.

Holidays tend to have smaller FW as people buy games over the stretch of the week and not just weekends. So yeah. I think it's a strong FW, especially if digital sales are included, but the series ahs dwindled a bit. It may be resurged, but probably not like the first one

I just think it's ridiculous to judge the sales based on only one week of sales, it even opened similarly to the first game.

It was obvious to anyone that Vita needed a price cut before it even launched.

Anyway, this week alone the 3DS has sold 29% of the Vita's entire lifetime sales in Japan according to Famitsu

Well, that's nothing to be proud of. Even Vita sold 38% of Vita's entire lifetime in its first week.

It's not that impresive we know that handheld are more popular then home console and ps3 has a slow debut i will call 3DS impresive if it outsell ps1 and ps2.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

how?

I'll honestly be impressed when Vita it passes the Dreamcast in Japan. At this rate, reaching DC's 2.25 million looks extremely far (and painful).

TGS is really going to be make or break for it. It needs nothing less than an spectacular show.

That said, 3DS also needs an spectacular show

I don't know if this is strategy or not, but for next year, there's practically nothing so far, except Monster Hunter 4 (big except, but even then).

Nintendo literally fired all cannons this year!

I know it's a bit early to call, but take into account this points:

  • MH4 on the way
  • still no 3DS Pokemon game
  • Animal Crossing this holiday (First one did 5 mil in Japan alone)
  • I'm 95% certain that DQXI will be on the system
  • Still loads of games for the system (Paper Mario, Luigi Mansion, DQ spinoffs and remakes, nintendo releases, Project X Zone, Bravely Default, Prof Layton, Layton vs Wright, Inazuma, etc................)
All this plus the fact it's selling so well makes me think that the 3DS will pass at least the PS1 in Japan. Probably by 2014/2015.
